Subnautica: Below Zero Speedrun - Glitchless Hardcore -

Subnautica: Below Zero glitchless speedrun on hardcore mode in 58:38. I'm still learning the run so it's pretty scuffed. This uses a seaglide-only route which gets a bit boring at times. First and last splits were early so the timer is a little off but the final time has been verified.
If you're curious, getting stuck at 7:55 didn't lose any time since I had to wait for the dialog to finish anyway.
FAQ:
Q: How do you break rocks so fast?
A: I use my mouse scroll wheel which I set to have the same action as left click in the game settings.
Q: How do you have highlights around objects?
A: It's a feature you can enable via Options, Accessibility, Highlight Interactable.

DAMN THIS WAS AMAZING!!! As soon as the game was out I immediately got to exploring possible speedruns myself, and was awaiting your upload. However I did the Karrar bacteria story line too, which made the run like 2h long lol. Was a bit sad to see you get stuck in some animations or parkour or just glitched phases of the game, but sub 1 hour is very impressive. Keep up the good work, this is amazing.

1 hour, 30 minutes on I have 2 seatruck modules and here is how I got them. In a ravine somewhat 200 metres (stand facing your fabricator) and go somewhat at an angle to the right. You will come across it and it has so many things in it. There is also a hole that in the bottom that leads to some sort of hostile creature group, but has dimonds, lithium, and seatruck modules. Soooooo great for the start.

It's not only noteworthy that you CAN skip so much plot, it's noteworthy that that is indeed the quickest way through. I thought for sure you were going to use Maida's base to recharge your tanks, but you never even needed to know she existed. Essentially the only preexisting tech you ever saw were a couple of stockpiles where you got the Rebreather and High Cap Tank, and a bridge you never crossed. Of course, since the spy satellite saw you leave, Alterra's next expedition will be to the Architect homeworld.

Hey that's really awesome to hear! I hope you give it a try sometime! In the original game the 100% category required scanning everything, and it was very long and difficult. Something shorter might be better to start with. Honestly I'm still nervous around the bitey monsters too but you can reduce that with a ton of medkits like I did in my first attempt :>

@@Shioku1337 I go with my prawn all the time. They hit it for ehhh 25 points damage, but I can usually dodge by staying slightly airborne at all times. Also I don't walk with the prawn, I glide, if you keep spacebar down and move forward, you keep going on land even if the energy bar is down to zero. I've only lost a prawn once to a worm, and that was just because I tried to bull through rather than stop and repair. I've lost more prawns to jumping into rocks and not being able to jump out, or during early access, jumping through the floor of the map, that was fun. If you skitter from spire to spire, they can't come up under the spires. Also grappling hooks can help move faster in some places to get out of the way. I have never used a snowfox for more than a minute, and that was just for the achievement, mostly I prawn almost everywhere.

I remember when Frost Anemone Hearts were called Ice Fruit and couldn't spoil. I literally filled an entire locker with them LOL. I also found out how to make them spawn in faster. You would have to leave the Ice Fruit area and go past the Alterra Supply Cache until you were past the ice berg with a hole in the middle. Then you would just swim back and they would be there. (I tried waiting it out and that didn't work.)

The problem is you get control before the screen fades in so it's not clear when to start the timer. Someone is making an autosplitter to handle it but until then I don't mind taking a few seconds of time loss.

Is it possible to use the teleporter to the base Phi to be maybe a few seconds faster. I haven't tried it now, but I could imagine that the way from the body part to the portal and the way from base Phi to the coast together is shorter. You could take the cube to activate it at Al-An's origin beforehand. There you left two cubes.

I think that the entrance of crystal cave in lilypad is much better than the entrance in deep purple vent, you only need 225s oxygen and breather to go from the fabrication base to marg base (with a little lucky of avoiding leviathans) I made it :))

22 attempts and 3 finished so far but before that I did a casual play through and then a bunch of creative mode to figure out routing.

Any thoughts on low%? 've been routing a Survival "cure+ALAN" low% that manages something like 60 pickups, plus 3 seaglide scans, bridge fluid scan, spypengling scan, and high cap air tank and rebreather. 2 batteries for the whole game is possible but requires more food/water, so 3-4 batteries might require less pickups. Got sub 2 hours with room to improve.

I can't say I've thought about it. Low% was hard to define in the first game and it's probably the same here. Maybe something like "scanner only" would be interesting.

@@cinnamoncookies I think "minimum pickups" is interesting because of the refined materials in Phi robotics and mercury 2, and also because the tug of war between saving seaglide batteries and saving food. (I skip flippers, butthere might be a trade I can play with there) My route involves a pre-pod deathwarp (which keeps your stuff) from Phi robotics and the leviathan cave, including 3 batteries, 3 cloth, lube, copper wire, the pre-built scanner, and the synthetic fiber and hydrocloric acid, and all 16 titanium I will need. Scan seaglide fragments after the deathwarp, before the pod. 2nd trip is twisty depths for 3 diamond, 6 gelsacks, high cap tank, ALAN, and rebreather. 3rd trip is Mercury 2 for a second copper wire, a wiring kit, and more batteries, before continuing to the lillypad component, and back to the pod 4th trip scans the bridge fluid, retrieves and applies the cure, and jumps off the high platform enough times to deathwarp back to the pod. 4th is the land component. Deathwarp out. Then it's off to the endgame, and deathwarp out of the fabricator caverns.

Pre-pod swim to Mercury 2, pick up 2 lithium, make some just-barely safe dives for 4 metal wreckage around the mercury 2, and on the deep end, enter, pickup the titanium ingot, the copper wire, and rush to the hidden wiring kit before death-warping back to the crash site. Then, still without visiting the pod, , head to Phi robotics and the leviathan cave, (you can do a lot of the trip on foot if you find the cable) get 3 cloth, 3 batteries, the scanner (load a battery), lube, Acid, another copper wire, and the synthetic fiber. Scan the robopengling. Jump off the balcony repeatedly to deathwarp again. On the way to the pod from the crash site, scan seaglide fragments and pick up a gold and 4 silver. Crafting: Seaglide, 2 air tanks. Drop the endgame stuff in storage. High cap air tank pickup, 2 seed pods, 6 quartz, deep twisty bridges for 3 diamond and 6 gel sacks, ALAN and an ion cube, rebreather on the way out, and pick up some root globlues from the cave just northwest before returning to the pod. Craft high cap tanks and rebreather, use the dying seaglide battery to craft the pengling, and the remote. Back to the leviathan cave area, with a pit stop to scan the bridge fluid. Cure and deathwarp before you starve to death. Craft bridge fluid. Rush the ice wyrm component, and try to get mauled to death before dying of hypothermia. Lillypad component. unequip the rebreather and air tank for a fast deathwarp back to the pod. Craft the plasteel and polyanaline. Final gauntlet- 3 kyanite and 2 ribbon plants in the crystal caves, and deathwarp back to the pod. Finish the game. 51 pickups, if you count the cure itself. 52 is a reserve food or medkit.
