Backed in the day you could lose your cyclops to flooding (when you are unable to repair the breaches) now you could lose it permanently by an explosion I really liked the flooding feature because it gave me thought that if I abandoned the submarine when having a bull breach it would sink to the ocean floor and then someday I would come back to retrieve it

OsamaBinLooney I use the Cyclops as a massive cargo ship to gather large amounts of supplies from each biome without twenty trips. You can park it near where your farming if the area has Leviathans or dangerous creatures and use a Prawn or Seamoth to gather and explore. Honestly the only time I get attacked is when Im crossing the suken island biome since Bone Sharks overspawn and sit near the surface. Beyond that Leviathans are easy to avoid if you watch them from a distance and get an idea of their territory and agro radius.

Yeah, the way leviathans work in this game is they detect two things (at least with vehicles): light and movement, if you just turn off your lights and stop moving the leviathans don't even attack your vehicles, I think there are some exceptions though such as reapers attacking Seamoths even when it's lights are turned off and it's not moving.

+Owen Rosen The Atlas would be useless. Sure, it would be cool to look at, but you couldn't take it anywhere below the surface like you can with the Cyclops. "the whole planet is an ocean" Not the playable area, the only thing out in the DEEPest of the deep areas is the dead zone, nothing important out there. The only viable way of implementing the Atlas would be in the separate multiplayer title they are making in the future.

It would be really cool if they made it so that when your cyclops is mortally damaged and you eject from it you can still escape the mini explosion that kills whoever is still inside of it. But later you can enter into your cyclops through hull holes or something to retrieve your stuff. Maybe it would require a laser cutter to do so and you can deconstruct the things inside to recycle the cost of losing the ship slightly. it would be really cool to see this in action if your cyclops went down super deep and it was like a mission/expedition to get your stuff back. Imagine having to go to the lava zone or lost river to retrieve your materials

This is the one thing i hated about the cyclops, no way to actually DEFEND yourself in this massive submarine which costs a small fortune to make and you'll likely use another small fortune to turn it into a mobile base. Sure you can drop lures but that'll only work if your in large open space where the lure won't just get knocked back to you by whatever's chasing the sub. On one hand, I know the Dev's specifically didn't want us to have weapons in the game due to the horrible events that occurred before the game's production but we got stasis rifles for the player and toxic torpedoes for the seamoth. But on the other hand I think we could've been given something. Maybe stasis turrets on the side and aft of the sub? Maybe torpedoes on the front? Either way, it's always a pain whenever you lose the cyclops. A pain that feels like you're powerless to prevent.

You might have been able to save it by putting it on silent running and, after putting out the fires, getting outside to repair hull damage. Creatures don't seem to attack the Cyclops if you're not in it
