Subnautica: Floating Island Resort

There is not much dry land in Subnautica, but when you find it, it's a tropical paradise, particularly the Floating Island. Suspended on the water surface by a contingent of Ancient Floaters, this biome has evolved surface flora unlike anything previously seen, most of which is bioluminescent, which allows for beautiful views during the night. With the abundance of food everywhere and virtually no predators, you can sit back and relax while enjoying ever so sunny days on the Planet 4546B. Sunrise and sunsets are also a rare thing which can't be experienced underwater.

@@sabianwatts8515 i wouldn't really call that weather. Below zero has impenetrable snow with the occasional burst of impenetrable snow with lightning. I couldn't even tell you if below zero has solar eclipses because I could hardly see the sun, let alone any of the moons

@@M808B_Scorpion I think you might only notice them on the mountains where the Quarantine Enforcement Platform is located because the floating islands aren't stationary, i.e, they'd rise and fall with the water because they're floating.

@@vicerine22 Actually, it's a great location for a tiny storage base. Especially if you don't want to risk your Seamoth going to the gun island constantly. Since the gun island has a lot of shale, the other island will make a great area to siphon gold, diamond and lithium, to your other bases. Its extra useful when you get the Cyclops.

This is that cabin out in the middle of no where, that you tell no one about. Just a little place you go to recharge every once in a while. Not a neighbour for as far as the eye can see, just nature. Very nice!

I can just envision building a couple towers well out of the Sea Treader’s path, each to one side of it, with a glass corridor connecting them at the top floor, and as the Sea Treader herds walk by, you can stand just above them as they have enough room to clear it. I have actually built something like this before. It’s also a good biome in which to build a few Bioreactors, as the Alien Poop is a decent source of fuel for it to make electricity. The Sea Treader’s will make more of the stuff than you’ll ever need, and that way you don’t have to ship it to bases in other biomes. I always found them to be a Storage problem when I tried to do that.

I wanted to build there and knew I had to gather lots of materials from nearly everywhere else, but I was up to the task. Then when I did it and got to building, I couldn’t get it to work like I wanted it too. Lots of the unscannable flora would just clip through my base, particularly the vines hanging down from a certain tree. That’s one of my pet peeves. I abandoned the project and went to build in a neighboring biome. I’m glad to see someone else was able to do it and so nicely too.

This is a great build! What's even better is that hostile mobs won't come up to attack the base because the warpers would act as guardsman to any hostile creature that has the virus. And assuming that your done with the game and cured the warpers below won't attack you either. So you can deck out the resort with friendly warpers!

The one thing I respect the hell out of, is that Oarfish is doing this in the FULL Hardcore survival mode. Not creative, or even the 'ignore food/water' lesser survival mode. But the Hardcore mode where you need to eatd/drink and have to find everything. That and if he dives straight down, there's an adult ghost leviathan under his feet.

Well I build my island base in the exact same spot. Mines a bit bigger and is all above water. Very cool :) Btw it is so hard to build above water. Especially the place that the base is in.

One problem with building here (although it never happens in-game), is that one day the Floating Island will probably suffer the same fate as the smaller Underwater Islands in the Boneshark territory. And when that happens, what will become of this beautiful base?

I built this base on Survival mode had to add reinforcement to the walls in the sea. But other than that the good part is that you don't need a oxygen converter for the base.
