In the future, humans began to colonize planets in space with the use of phasegates, a portal that enables travel across great distances. Independent entities explored the far reaches of the Universe, but this race across the galaxy was lawless, and defense manufacturer Alterra prospered by selling to all sides of the Expansion conflict. Eventually, Alterra threatened to cease all trade, paving the way for peace.
Leaders from all sides instituted The Charter which established 37 separate but equal Trans-Govs, independent authorities in control of at least one solar system and phasegate.
By the late 22nd century humans have gone deeper into space than ever before. The Alterra Corporation has charged the Aurora and its crew with the goal of building a phasegate in the remote region of space known as the Ariadne Arm.
But unknown to most of the crew, they've also been tasked with investigating the remains of the Degasi, a ship that mysteriously crashed on the planet 10 years ago.
A Mongolian vessel, the Degasi was captained by Paul Torgal, CEO of the Torgal Corporation, and the crew included his son Bart Torgal and known mercenary Marguerit Maida. To aid Alterra's diplomatic efforts with the Mongolian Council, a Mongolian Emissary has joined the crew of the Aurora.
And of course, the Aurora is about to meet the same fate as the Degasi, with only maintenance chief Ryley Robinson as its sole survivor. He'll have to brave the local fauna and find a way off the planet, but there's something even more sinister lurking in the waters.

Ameya Bhaskar that depends on how scared you are. For me, the terror made the experience better. Cowering under some wreckage as I hear the roars close by, watching my air tick down and wondering if I can dodge it long enough to get to the surface... It's not all deadly sea monsters but they're definitely out there. The exploration is top notch and if you don't want to deal with that you don't have to play survival.

Subnautica is AMAZING in VR. I've played over 60 hours of it and boy, if you think getting attacked by a reaper is scary, it's MUCH more terrifying in VR! It actually feels like you're sitting inside the Seamoth and Prawn too, it's awesome!

Good video, but there were a two things that were incorrect: One: you used the alien arches as a graphic for phasegates. They are different- phasegates are huge, large enough to warp ships bigger than the aurora through space. The other thing was that reapers do not spawn anywhere near the blood kelp - they spawn in the dunes, crash zone and mountains.

In addition, in episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic xylophone, or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

Nope. Ghost reapers are only in the void, occasionally wandering into bordering biomes. This excludes the one that wasn't fully grown in the lost river.

Phasegates are artificially created by humans, the teleporters used in the video were the Precursor teleporters, Phasegates are ment to teleport ships up to (or larger than) the Aurora, while Teleports are ment for small stuff like people, sealife, and the Prawn Suit.

1) Those are Alien phasegates. The human ones were likely much bigger (to fit spaceships through) and have an unconfirmed appearance. (spoilers) 2) Surprised there was no mention of the Precursors, though I guess that would be spoilers. Possibly a second video on the Precursors & Sea Emperor (with a spoiler warning, of course)?

​​​@@canofcatnip2651t's explained in Maida's logs that the creature that attacked the Degasi Sea-Base was a Reaper Leviathan. She killed it, hollowed out the corpse, and used it for food and shelter while adrift at sea, eventually arriving at Sector Zero of 4546B. As to how she didn't die from the Kharra bacteria in the time between her arriving to Sector Zero and Robin arriving on 4546B is unknown. My theory is that the Kharra was slowed down by the cold temperatures, making it take much longer for the disease to kill. By the time symptoms got worse, Marguritte managed to find one of the juvenile Sea Emperors that made its way to Sector Zero and use its enzymes to cure herself.
