I found out something interesting. Yesterday i had a dream about that the sea dragon was trying to eat me. I woke up in the middle of the night and i decided to go back to sleep with an airsoft gun in my hand (not loaded of course) AND IN THE NEXT DREAM I STILL HAD THAT GUN WITH ME

I must have played more than 600 games in my life, and this is the best experience I ever had. Curious to explore, excited and overwhelmed, scared shitless etc. Scarier than System Shock 2, more adventurous than half life. Seriously, It's a new kind of entertainment, in my book.

It is scarier than system shock 2 which is a fucking accomplishment in itself. The only other game that creeped me out at least as much was The Forest, another absolutely brilliant game where you're never actually as safe as you think you are. The AI in The Forest is also stunningly human and contributes massively to your fear : they will standoff with you, talk about you among themselves in a language you can't understand, watch you from afar, curious, not sure what you're doing, come closer, you see them, they back off, it's not always insta-aggro but when it's on it's just terrfying. I could GOTY subnautica or The Forest in a snap, but Subnautica as a much more interesting world than The Forest to me, however both games scared the shit out of me on multiple occasions and I can't recommend both enough.

22:41 I love nighttime spooks. Here's why: So, I had made it a goal to build a functioning base in every biome Subnautica has. I was in the blood kelp, Ampeels and Warpers outside. I had just made the moonpool, and the hull integrity was only at 3-4. The problem was, when I made the next room, there was a hull breach, and my base began to flood. It was then this creepy track started playing. I was desperately hunting for lithium to make a reinforcement, hurrying before I needed to go outside and face the creatures outside the base. I saw the water slowly rise up from below, knowing there would be no space to breath other than a beaten seamoth, and even then, it would be shredded by the warpers surrounding the base. This all happened with the thumping bass playing in the background. It is one of my favorite moments in Subnautica, where you truly feel trapped and alone with death itself slowly approaching.

I don't know what I hate more about the Crash Site. How terrifying it is, or how all that terror just... goes away once you're actually inside the Aurora. Like it's somehow SAFER in a burning wreck than out in the water.

what's the one that comes just before altera science??? This game has one of my most favourite soundtracks of all! The soundtrack is such an underrated aspect of a game, but it makes all the difference and creates breathtaking atmospheres! I mean seriously! No game before has ever instilled such an intense sense of awe and wonder, while also being bloody terrifying! It perfectly simulates what the real ocean is like to us tiny humans. I particularly enjoy the the soundtracks that have the thumpy-thumps. they make that whole world come alive in a way that it feels as if you can hear it's heart beat.

It's called Crash Site, it plays when near wrecks or the Aurora. And I agree wholeheartedly about the soundtrack. The Ocean is a place that has made me feel many things, fear, wonder, awe and horror. The sense of unknown and of vastness is only captured by Subnautica thus far. A masterpiece of a game and no game can be a masterpiece with a shoddy soundtrack and this is anything but.

Maybe ask the devs if they plan to release a complete soundtrack. The Collectors Edition only contained 11 or 12 songs so far.
