I recently played subnautica again on a old tv with a very dim backlight. The brightness would work fine in the lit areas but the tv would dim significantly in the darker areas. I didn't realize this until I played it on my other TV. Playing on the older TV made the game terrifying. It was awesome and I will never play it on the that TV again

That sound isn't an easter egg. It's just the Bulb Zone ambiance. You're not actually in the void in that spot, you're underneath the bulb zone. This is why ghost leviathans don't spawn there either.

Hey, just wanted to say when you were going through your PDA and it showed a data entry for the precursors metal, I think it’d be awesome if we could make that metal in the mod and build precursor style tech and structures, maybe by combining Plasteel and ion cubes. Additionally if the moders ever are looking for a new project after this, I have an idea, make a mod in which the emperor didn’t survive and add something in the emperor facility that says something along the lines of “with the expiration of the emperor specimen and the release of the Karrah our last efforts have failed, some have begun to discuss taking desperate measures... we have decided to relocate to the void” the message would come with coordinates, and take you deep into the void, the moder’s could then have fun building out “void environments” populated with only microbial nutrient pools (similar to the lost river) and leviathans of various sizes. The signal would then take you to another massive facility (something by like a precursor city located above as deep trench/cave, this facility would be a “leviathan fabrication facility” and it would be revealed that after the death of the emperor and the quarantine of the planet the remaining precursors began using their advanced genetics technology to splice creatures together into new and unique leviathans in a desperate attempt to create another creature that can produce enzyme 42, and maybe even imply that the last one transferred their mind to a leviathan to escape the Karrah, and give the player an option to do the same “leviathan ending” or maybe they wake up this precursor leviathan and it destroys the facility releasing all the hybrids, or maybe the player could use their splicing tech to figure out some other way of synthesizing the enzyme 42 and curing themselves in which the game would proceed like normal. I don’t know just spitballing here. They could call it “subnautica Dark Waters.”

I'm not sure it's even a bug. They're snake-like creatures with massive strobe-lights attached to them, so it makes sense that they would coil similarly-sized prey and try to blind/confuse it until it dies. Either way though, I agree that it's pretty amazing to look at.

@@AndreB23 the bug is that the adult leviatha n is attacking the juvenile - they're the same animal. The code has it to attack its own kind, just because usually they're not supposed to come into contact with it.

I love this. Patiently waiting to see this in my own world. I also think that the garg is turning a little too tight. Also think it would be cool to have a collisions map for the whole body. The thing about wrapping up prey would be a pretty cool feature. Like it would wrap around your cyclops and then go in and eat it. Not sure the full body collisions is possible but it sure would be cool!

full body collisions in Subnautica are only really possible for non-eel creatures. I'm sure you've seen how the tails of the reaper and ghost leviathans can clip through things. that technically doesn't discount a "wrapping" animation, since collisions aren't needed for custom animations.

when you were talking about the base by the gargatuan's skull and how you didn't understand why the architects wouldve been examining it, it actually says when you scan it that part of the rib cage has been neatly cut out, probably for research. so the architects did some research in it in canon

The cyclopes should respond like that from a Gargantuan from now on. With the bite alone, the teeth would rip the hull and fill any ballast tanks with water. Plus your propeller would be ripped to shreds and destroyed. Nothing left to do but curl up into a ball and cry as you spin and twist to the bottom of the ocean.

I do feel like some parts of the garg adult should be less transparent than others, so that it's not just clear all over, give maybe parts that are darker like the tips of the tail, and tentacles, as well as the tendrils/whisker/antennae things, as well as maybe a milky foggy hue in some parts of the inside, and add more fleshy bits on the inside, hell maybe even make fun Easter eggs at times and have rare spawns with its last meal still in it, like reefbacks, reapers, ghosts, etc, maybe even cyclops and seamoth parts visible. Would be neat to see. I also think a hatchling version would be cute too, like they, as adults, risk becoming stuck in shallower water to lay their eggs so their offspring have a better chance of surviving, and the babies as they grow migrate to their respective areas.
