if you watched the video where they unclip and look at the rocket from outside, it appears that rocket never left the planet and there's just an animation displaying all the things happening infront of the rocket. So a view from the gun is...sadly gonna be nothing lol

You wouldn't need to lose resources, the game could respawn you in your base before you start to launch the rocket

I did this just 2 days. I'd taken about a 9 month break from the game a little while after finding the gun because I got bored of going around in circles trying to work out where I needed to go to progress. Came back this month and found the Lost River. Progressed till I built the rocket and thought I was about to complete the game but ran into what we see in the vid.
