SUBRIEL MATIAS vs PETROS ANANYAN 2 - My Thoughts!

Guys we should expect nothing but excitement, devastation, and destruction from the 140lb boogeyman subriel matias. No one wants this assignment and many look terrified at just the sight of him
So, guys, we can see that Subriel Matias looks fairly unorthodox when he advances but this is his style and it works because he is an inside-pressure fighter.
At range he is either blocking, slipping, or sometimes eating punches let's be honest.
His main thing is to get past the onslaught of the boxer he usually allows to be first and contest the battle up close and personal. But he will sometimes box at range if his opponent is fatigued, retreating, or has not understood the distance correctly.
Too many individuals have drawn the same polarised conclusion that Subriel Matias is somehow ducking Devin Haney.
I would say that most of these ideas have surfaced from unofficial non-contractual conversations and we need to bear in mind that Matias is probably not media-trained and will talk heavily on bravado.
Guys remember he has a belt so he is an official Latino world champion, now combining this with his 100% knockout ratio and the Latino fire that runs in his blood...
this will mean that he's talking more than he's thinking.
But to address the actual comments Subriel made I believe he was responding to a question about Haney making demands and Haney as a fighter. There's a slight translation error in his response but it's more of a perspective that he offers rather than a official rejection to fight Haney.
So there is no ducking going on here in my mind.
In any case, both Haney and Matias have fights. Haney vs Ryan Garcia and Matias vs Liam Paro. Now when the dust settles we can focus on the Matchroom negotiations, managers and boxers talking directly about a unification fight.

Matías is a vicious monster. It’s very difficult for any fighter to withstand that pressure. Even if you are a boxer and a moving target he is very accurate with his punches. You will have to be on your toes for 12 rounds. Almost an impossible task because at some point you will have to stop and he’s gonna catch you.

You can't compare Tank Davis with Matias. Matias is trying to fight everyone and can't get them to fight; everyone has tried to fight Tank: Haney, Shakur, Teo, and Loma, and he has declined to fight any of them.

Matias is a fighter. This you can see from his get hit, then hit back harder. It's definitely not a good thing getting hit unnecessarily. Something matias's camp might want to talk about with their fighter. Might not go well for matias if he took on a hard hitter like Tank. The problem is that Matias is a sledgehammer combination hitter, too. His record proves that he's ready for clown haney and anyone at 140 with balls.

Marko, I liked your analysis but respectfully disagree with your conclusion. You’re entitled to your opinion of course. I am 200 percent certain that Shakir would win the first 3 rounds but starting with round 4, Matias’ ring cutting, pressure and punch output and solid punching pier especially to the body and 70-100 punches to body, arms, and face would gradually grind Shakir down. He would then resort to back and lateral pedaling, clinching (to his own detriment, and by round 8 get on survival mode. In exchanges, Subriel would throw 5/6 punch combinations from short distance angles and tempo changes. Shakur could block 2-3 but not the 2-3 other hard shots. Shakir has NEVER faced a pressure fighter like Matias who can punch nonstop for 12 rounds and not get tired. Shakur bare fought DeLis Santos and he would avoid Matias even more. He does not have the physical strength and stamina to match Matias for 12 rounds of frenetic pace. Lastly, Matias throws quick sharp accurate hard punches that would keep Shakur on defense 90 percent of the time. Sorry, even Shakur hesitates calling out Matias! He mentioned he would like to spar him and would face a much more aggressive Matias than the sparring partner he fought in your clip. My conclusion: Matias by TKO in round 11 or 12, depending on how much Shakur runs and/or clinches. He can’t stop Matias’ offensive destructive pressure.

Matias hasn’t fought anyone yet..and he’s been rocked by lower level fighters..he beats Haney but has a major problem against Lopez …who has a combination of power and speed. Which is why Matias ran from him…and it’s a fact that he did run to matchbook/Eddie Hearn to not face him..
