I don't know if I would ever have had this idea myself, but I admire the person who did; this is indeed clever.

These three modules now hold the company's record of getting the most mileage while going absolutely nowhere. By the way, smart idea to make the ground wet to reduce friction.

@MrSaemichlaus2 жыл бұрын
@@walterburger5281 look at 01:07 they clearly have a water hose laid out, at 01:17 you see the water flowing out of it and spreading on the ground.
@walterburger52812 жыл бұрын
@@MrSaemichlaus OK, but at 059, hours before their hosing anything down, they're working on dry ground. It certainly isn't to give traction to the tires of the carousel. I don't think you can say with any certainty as to why the hose is laying on the ground spraying.
@MrSaemichlaus2 жыл бұрын
@@walterburger5281 If anything it's to make the traction LESS, which saves fuel and avoids some wear on all of the tires, steering pods and bearings. Without the water, the tires would probably also warm up somewhat, even increasing traction (which again isn't helpful in this case). They may have encountered a problem which wasn't critical in the beginning when they weren't using water yet. What else would they spray water for?

@@cyberprog Yeah, as the weight increased the water was used to ensure the tyres didn't grab too hard as they squashed slightly. Very simple and clever solution. These guys know exactly what they're doing.

a Slew bearing of 4 metres diameter could cost $ 140,000 , the mammoet tractor units were already available and can also transport short distances between discharge and reload point. if you used a slew you would still need to drive it with something . do the maths if the full carousel weighs 2000 tonnes , then how much torque is that ? Torque costs $$
