@@powertrip1050 Exactly, a flight director no less, the kind of guy (not THE guy though) who, after the Columbia disaster, uttered the words "lock the doors" very calmly... Luckily, I think Paul Dye never had to go through an event like that.

Nice! When I was a kid, I remember following the progress of the BD-5, which looked like something a young man could afford. When the BD-5J came out, I knew it was for me, but by the time I had that kind of money, they were no longer in production. Good to see someone carrying the torch of a personal jet!

This has to be such an amazing experience. I cannot imagine what its like to be up there, all alone in a home built "lawn dart". But really, congratulations on such a wonderful build, setup, and effort. An inspiration to anyone that wants to be a pilot.

That must be so exciting to fly. Thats a proper “Boy’s Toy” That almost simulates a jet fighter pilot. Very impressive. What a great place you live. I’m from the UK and was lucky enough to visit Lake Tahoe, and it is a stunning area.

The helmet was painted by John Stahr, the same artist who painted the aircraft - he does amazing work to match the art to the pilot.

Great video, Paul!!! Perfect framing, flawless flying and you answered every single question I´ve had with your precise explanation. I´m almost 6 foot 7 inches tall and with my 300 pound weight I guess this is the only way for me to know how this plane performs and I can tell you that I could almost feel it´s response to the controls and flight characteristics.
