I watched another video on stitches and you did it exactly like they did it but someone in the comments mentioned not duplicating the layer for shadows but using anchors, do you think it would be possible doing it that way and in what way would you do it using anchor points?

Using an Anchor workflow should be able to work. I haven't tried that but that is something I will look into.
