Haste increases your energy regeneration, where as Mastery won't. Mastery simply increases the efficiency of your Offensive Finishing Moves (including Slice and Dice). Having a higher energy regeneration is crucial during Shadow Dance bursts, for maximum Ambushes.

I'm leveling a rogue right now and I used Sub until 70, then switched to Assassination. I recommend being in que for dungeons AND battlegrounds while you level. At 70, with all the honor I had from BGs, I got a full set of brutal gladiator gear from the honor vendors, which greatly boosted DPS and health. Remember when the quest turn green, its time to go to a higher area. Skip professions if you want to level fast, you can do professions when you get tired of endless dailies in MoP.

Subtervuge seems to be what most sub rogues take. I've found, though, that shadow focus tends to mesh a bit better as far as sustained dps is concerned. Having that nearly free ambush with your premeditation at the get-go allows one to get a slice and dice off much faster, and leads in to keeping your bleeds and slice and dice up more efficiently. That, and combined with your two vanishes (using them appropriately in sync with expose weakness) is really beneficial toward managing your energy, I find. Granted, I'm not well geared, and I suppose this could very well change at higher gear levels? I just find managing subterfuge on top of energy/bleeds/slice and dice to be a pain. Perhaps I'm not quite utilizing it correctly. If any of you more experienced sub rogues could give me a bit of information/advice, that would be awesome!

Thank you so much. It is so hard to find videos for sub dps, because everyone goes assassination or combat now. Personally, I love the sub gameplay so I have stuck with it since cata. :)

Best dps on single target PVE: Stealth - Premedition - slice & dice - ambush (till stealth breakes) - hemo and backstab (till 5 combo points) - rupture - shadow blades and shadow dance together - ambush (till shadow dance goes out) - vanish - ambush - premedition - vanish - ambush Keep in mind that rupture and slice & dice always are up and that you have Subterfuge as talent.

Well also keep in mind that if you have subterfudge you get an extra 3 seconds overall on that 10% damage buff from being in stealth as sub.

its quite interesting to see how different people go about the Sub spec, i just watched a youtube Sub guide where mastery were his main stat because it increases he´s bleed effects, all haste was reforged to mastery, and crit in to hit/expertise, the mastery is after all what increases the dmg of your bleeds, where it seems that Preach are mainly focused on hitting as fast as he can with his weapons to generate more combo points for more finishers , the question is what approach are most effective when it comes down to it? , sure the lack of haste does reduce the amount of energy generated for using abilities, but the combo points from others should be enough when in a raid situation i think. what do you think about these two ways of doing things?

It's not about one or two more ambushes it's about the find weakness buff you get.

Shadow blades doesn't give you any armor ignore it just changes your white hits into shadow damage,and you gain 1 extra combo point on any attack.

Use them together anyway because Shadow blades only affects AUTO attack and thus you will miss damage on your Eviscarate ,wich is very important as a sub rogue

You know that as sub you also get a passive that gives you 10% more damage while stealthed and for a few seconds after, thus making subtrefuge better for damage

Because shadow damage is a damage type that isn't exclusive to shadow blades. Warlock's shadow bolt ignores armor. As does Death knight's blood boil, death coil, ect.

Are you going to upload a gameplay vid of sub? I heard on today's daily that you may revamp some new class guides, and since the rogue has undergone several small but great quality of life buffs, and since you have the legacy of the rogue up, maybe an updated 5 or 10 minute vid would be enough to cover the tweaks in all three specs.

Though it is kind of irrelevant, now Preparation is baseline, it would still have been the better option, In most coordinated Raid environments, you are coordinated, and will know when to save your sprint for. As for Subterfuge/Shadow Dance there is a 1k DPS difference in current ToT BiS gear.I roll a Belf, and Arcane Torrent lets me Garrote>Ambushx2 Which is more beneficial than Shadow Focus.

Wounding poison will replace Deadly, not Leeching. Wounding and Deadly poison are Offensive Poisons, Crippling, Mind numbing, and Leeching/Paralytic are Defensive.

With Prem then SnD before pull, Garrote>Ambush>Ambush is possible, but only with SF. Garrote applies SV and applies FW. Better combo in general.

I play 5 classes right now and a rogue happens to be my main. Of the 5 classes, rogue is hands-down the most clunky and complex of the bunch. We have to manage.. ENERGY.. COMBO POINTS... SLICE AND DICE (which in and of itself is an ambiguous mechanic).. not to mention trying to maintain stealth which is often impossible, AND stuns, AND manage Dots; rupture, hem, etc.. AND much of the time stealth + ST + ambush misses. IT just MISSES. :> I love the class. Mechanics are broken.

Sub is doing more dps by about 500 dps, give or take, but just pick the one you like the most, also be aware combat is doing about 5k dps less than ass and sub (single rota) but dominates aoe! -Pey3ree

Nope, Basically think of it this way, (although this doesn't work for every ability) If your ability requires stealth and another doesn't the stealth ability is better

Premed>SnD>Garrote>Ambush then Ambush #2 if you are a BElf with arcane torrent. If you are not a BElf, use Premed>SnD>Garrote>Ambush>CHEAP SHOT, why? It requires less energy than Ambush and awards 2 CP, which is better than two BS later on.
