Great tool love the NSK 600, something we could watch you work with this all day long, we get to see you perform great grinding work with it, and you are using this to grind your shop built squareness gauge mounted on our absolute favorite tool maker tool Suburban Tool, Our favorite tool from this category from this tool maker is their MM-25R an er-25 collet indexer you have some really nice toys Steve. Really nice finish. Lance & Patrick.

Nice precision tools, you got neat solutions to expand their capacity. Here I got a, without going in the shop, I think it's a MGI-6 or something similar, it's an older production model, still going great, with all the indexing and integrated set-up features, and a smaller Harig with a motor drive and a tail stock all mounted on a base. With eBay, there are some super great deals to be found, it mostly requires patience... 😎👍

Thank you Steve, informative a always. I will certainly be interested with the diamond dressing of the CBN wheel. I'm looking forward to trying some of these techniques once I get the 3 phase on.... I need to learn how to dress the diamond cup and streight wheels I have. Soo much to learn nd soooo few sources of teaching. Please, keep up the good work. Carl

Happy that Ebay sale finally worked out ok. An expensive combination of tooling, but for what your doing there's not many options to save money. I am surprised just how quiet that Planet is @ 65k. How's the air consumption on that Steve?
@SolidRockMachineShopInc5 жыл бұрын
Hi Turning Point, Yes, it is a lot of money but it opens up a lot of new possibilities that would cost much more with other equipment. The unique setups are very fast and accurate with these tools. I was surprised at how quite the 600 was as well. Steve

Another option I use to gain more clearance is to just put it on a magnetic sine plate locked down at 0 degrees. Quicker to set up that way.

I don't have one of those yet. On the wish list. Steve

@@SolidRockMachineShopInc In our shop we probably have over 50 magnetic 5 inch sine plates. Some work centers they are required for an operator to have their own. I'll give you some tips on looking for one. Hermann Schmidt and the Ex-Cell-O are the strongest/best I've seen. The Current Suburbans are REALLY weak anymore. Our company bought 2 new ones a while back and they wouldn't even hold a standard Harig fixture even though it was blocked in over the WHOLE magnetic surface. Surburban evidently has bought out the Ex-Cello-O rights as they also make it now. We ended up getting 2 of those and they work well. they cost almost double the price to their standard plates. As I recall they were close to $4000.00 each. When Ex-Cello was in business they made them for other companies as well so study the design. I found one on Ebay so you can see what it looks like. They have left and right hand threaded screws to hold the angle with a build up and do well. Standard Suburban plates you have to use rubber bands or twist clamps to hold it down. Just a pain. They are nice too as the side rails are in line with bottom. This comes into play when you have stops set to swing with your Harig. It'll be the same. Hermann Schmidt's are like that too. sadly I've also seen some offshore stuff that holds well. You want to take your Small Harig/index fixture along and test it. Firmly secure the Sine plate(Normally best on a grinder chuck, Put the fixture on the sine plate and lock it in. Then try to move the fixture. If you can, walk away. here is a link to see one. Study the handle, base and design. they are coping it to the tee to this day. www.ebay.com/itm/Robins-XLO-Magnetic-Sine-PLate/254215078370?hash=item3b306641e2:g:hIoAAOSwOANcxMbP

Could the little bit of runout be from the eccentric setup, the off-center weight causing a little wobble?
@SolidRockMachineShopInc5 жыл бұрын
That very is possible. I will have to try grinding a part in a 5c collet and see if that makes a difference. Steve

Great video Steve!! Nice e bay find. Just a thought could you possibly offset the out of balance with the handle on the back of the nsk 600? Ie swing opposed to each other. Not teaching your job I am far from it trust me.
