I'm rural but it is quickly growing almost to the point of suburban. My neighbors and I have already working on plans and resources during an emergency. One of our neighbors has a homestead and is a police officer. His first line of defense if something starts going to heck is to use heavy equipment to make our road impassable to discourage strangers from going his way so we have to be stocked up to be here unassisted for quite some time. But we have had plenty of experience with the grid going down so environmentally we are ready. I really hope it doesn't come to roving gangs of looters... People need to be ready just in case. Thanks for spreading awareness to what can happen and how to prepare. If everyone is prepared then no one would have any problems. A side note, water a essential so stockpiling it is critical and we have started canning sterile water as well, never know when you will need it. Be safe everyone.

I hope so too, but it's always worth being prepared. I think that being a prepper is about being ready for anything - small or large, but still hoping that it won't happen. And yes, water is absolutely vital 👍

It makes sense to “stockpile” OTC medications, but if you’re on prescription meds, and the pharmacist won’t give you a refill before they think you’re due, what do you do to get a “stockpile” going?

Ask your doctor to prescribe a 90 day supply.
@PreppersParadigm

As mentioned in the previous reply, see if you can ask for a longer prescription, or get a refill just a day or two earlier each time and over time build up a small stockpile

@PreppersParadigm
@PreppersParadigm 27 күн бұрын
@@JamesBond-zd5jx I use Murf.ai. There are loads of different voices to choose from, so I use one that sounds similar to me (well when I could speak anyway!). I write the scripts and Murf generates the voice. It takes a bit of effort to get details of the pronunciation of some more technical words right, but it's a good system. get.murf.ai/fezcvn61ylw8 (That's an affiliate link, so I may earn a small amount for any sign ups using the link, doesn't cost you anything extra if you use it)

I think having a fence is counterintuitive. If “marauders” come poking around the neighborhood, and they see a house with a big fence around it, they’re going to be inclined to think that you must have something of value (water, food, guns, etc). I would try to be as inconspicuous as possible..

So don’t use fences and gates just let people walk right up to your back door. 🙄

There are two approaches to security, either be obvious but very hard for someone to get in, or be discreet so that no one thinks you're a target. I like to be discreet but while also making it hard for intruders. Thorny bushes under windows, for example, don't look like an obvious security measure but make access harder

I grew up in the suburbs as a young adult hoping to own a home in the next 2-5 years i cant do suburbs its like they’re designed in a way that someone is always watching. Homes are way too close together. Usually only 1-2 entrances to every subdivision. In the current state of the world long term suburban living is a no go for me, personally

Suburbs isn't always the ideal set up for prepping, but for many it's about working with what you've got to prepare as well as you can

Good vid, and i welcome your new channel to the prepper-sphere! 😁 I'm glad you took the time to present subject matter on specifically SUBURBAN survival! Most other channels cover cities, and rural applications. The set of dynamics present in suburban prep and survival differ vastly from urban or rural survival. Again, i welcome your channel to the community, and don't let the naysayer douchebags derail your efforts! 👍😁👍

Really it's about being a less tempting target than other houses, rather than trying to build an (impossible) impenetrable fortress. Just look like a more difficult house to get into than others

I dislike how all prep videos focus on surviving an event but losing your humanity. Honestly we should prep as a neiborhood together
@PreppersParadigm
@PreppersParadigm 2 ай бұрын
I (mainly) agree with this, however to prep as a community you need to make sure that the whole community is working together. One prepper alone can't support a community that won't prepare for themselves.

@Apocraphon
@Apocraphon Ай бұрын
If you can't trust everyone in your neighborhood then your in the wrong neighborhood, gaining trust with those around you should be part of your preps; besides if your really serious about being prepared for different scenarios then location matters more than other things anyway. Because it matters more that you have the skills to acquire and require supplies rather than have a limited Stockpile and be clueless on how to restock.

I understand the need to focus on what u can control but if things are so obviously bad that u feel the need to prepare for it then its something that would also affect your neighbors aswell, even the most selfish person in the world can look around and see tucked up siht happening to their peers and say " if it can affect them, then I Might be affected at some point too."

Its hard but it will be necessary to turn neighbors away. Say you barely have enough for yourself. Buy in advance larger sized clothes and wear them-makes you look like you are also losing weight.

I’m worried about the gangs and groups that will scavenge houses for food and drugs. These people will have guns and you can’t get into a fire fight at the risk of depleting your ammo. I would find a bugout site that’s hidden.

Bug out is great only if you have a bug out location that is more secure than your home. That could be somewhere that has better security measures, or somewhere that is remote enough you think no one will come looking

Depleting ammo? One shot, one kill. The marauders become loot drops with a good defensive plan. Sandbags for defensive positions, funnel attackers into firing zones, etc, etc
