How to grow tomatoes so you have the most beautiful garden bed? I share my companion planting experiment with tomatoes and flowers. Support the channel: www.etsy.com/shop/siloeoliveira or / suburbanhomestead
Growing tomatoes in the city can be done if you camouflage the vines with plenty of flowers. This principle of permaculture, of stacking functions, works well in the urban vegetable garden. Suburban Homestead S3EP5

I tried the zinnias alongside my tomatoes on a long narrow bed straight across my front lawn this summer and it brought me SUCH PLEASURE all summer long. Every day on the way in and out of work, I would take a short walk along the bed, pruning the tomatoes and appreciating the zinnia blossoms. Best 10 minutes of the morning and evening!

I love all your shows I was so excited when you started making them again! I just bought some of your garden tags you should keep making them with different veggies and herbs on them so your viewers can collect them each month! It would be cool to have a tag for each plant in my garden while supporting your show! Thanks again keep up the good work I love to watch your shows over and over!

Beautiful! Thanks for the tip on planting the shorter Marigolds at the foot of the tomato plants, and zinnias in the middle. I will do that plus throw in nice tall cosmos for good measure. I mostly grow cherry tomatoes (and lots of hybrid varieties) to overcome only getting 3-4 hrs of direct sun in my garden, but I can't wait to see how it all looks with the flowers growing within. Thank you for the wonderful video!

I haven't decided which I like most: veggies or flowers in the garden. This year I planted more flowers and herbs; let them go to flowering/seeding (even the veggies). Something about watching pollinators and birds enjoy what you've created. !!

Hello Siole', it was a beautiful tomato bed. My favorite 'fruit" are tomatoes. The store bought tomatoes will never equal homegrown. I even grew a cherry tomato indoors during the winter. The harvest wasn't as big, but it got me through until I could get outside again. I always use zinnia's, marigolds, petunia' and nasturtiums around all of my vegetables plants. Thanks for sharing, T

10:03 👍🏼. Very nice! And I agree on the taste of the tomatoes 100% - I grew up in the village with my grandma and ate the most delicious tomatoes ever grown. She was a tomato goddess! The seeds have been in the family for many decades and now my uncle continues the tradition. I’m trying here in Arizona, but gardening here is nothing like gardening in Bulgaria. A couple of weeks ago we had a very heavy rain pour and splashed soil all over the tomato plants and now the leaves are all wilting... Thank you for another fantastic video!!! Best, Sasha

I love watching your videos. I was so happy, today when I saw I had a brand new one to watch. You have a very enjoyable voice to listen to. Its almost like you are telling a story but then, you are, aren't you? It's the story of your gardening for this past year and what a beauty it is!!! Thank you so much for doing your videos. They are all wonderful. I love your tomato cages. You must have made them yourself. They are beautiful. I, too, choose not to eat tomatoes, except for in tomato sauce form because the ones in the store just cannot touch the wonderfulness that comes from my homegrown tomatoes. I have already started mine in the house. They have their first true leaves. My seedlings for this year are all heirloom as I agree with you and like them the best. I have Black Krim, Cherokee Purple, Brandywine and a couple of others. I will grow my zinnia and marigolds with them, this year. I usually put basil nearby, as well. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you, Happy Gardening from Patty in Merrimack, NH (close to Boston, Ma)

Great Video! Thanks...Just FYI...In case you didn't know...At the end of the season, just before or right after the first frost, you can pick all of your green tomato's and place them in a cardboard box or even a paper bag, lined and covered with newspaper (paper is mainly if you have one or two that spoil). The tomato's will gradually ripen ( can speed up by placing a banana peel in with them).

I really enjoy your videos. It's very hot and humid here in northeast Texas. I'm growing 10 different types of tomatoes this year - most of them heirlooms. I'm growing Jubilee tomatoes just because they are so beautiful. To fight blight, I remove the lower leaves and plant flowers, radishes and carrots at their base to help fill in, make it beautiful and help shade the lower tomatoes. Fire ants and leaf-footed bugs are my biggest pests. Happy gardening.
