We grew up in West Garden Grove, Ca. Bill and I remained close until his final days. I miss my friend dearly. He would have laughed immensely at your video…. All in a good way! On your recommendation, Kurt, I caught this movie on TUBI last night. I enjoyed it. I didn't mind the amateur acting from the young cast. I thought it worked very well in conveying the homeless kids' fear and desperation. I grew up in the 70s (mostly) and my only recollection of the punk scene was watching the Ramones on the Uncle Floyd Show. They would appear occasionally, lip-syncing, on a (long ago) defunct UHF channel out of Newark, New Jersey. Back in the late 80s, however, my brother did bump into Joey Ramone in an apt. building in the East Village. He was shocked to learn that Joey lived right down the hall from my aunt. So was I. Small world, huh?

I still live on Adoree and Stanbridge, I was on that movie set most every day, I used to stash beer in my fridge for skinner, peg leg and others who didn't end up in the movie. I used to sit in an avocado tree and watch them film, flea used to bum cigarettes off me. As kids we ruled those vacant houses they were are playground. Dirt bike tracks, jumps, we would take plywood off of the houses and 2x4's from the garages and make bike jumps and skateboard ramps and tree houses. And the TR house was on stanbridge, you're standing on Corrigan and Angell one street over. I am on the other side of the freeway.

as a kid we used to goto Norwalk (we lived in Glendora,Ca.)for church. so my parents always drove past the duck/ chicken farm and taking the 605 fwy south. we always saw the houses on the right all abandoned. this was around 1985/86. btw there used to A Nazi HQ in El Monte which flew a giant Nazi flag.
@GregBiggsDETHKIDS6663 жыл бұрын
Yo that's crazy you say that my friend that is from El Monte said that's the reason a bunch of the punk kids had their G older brothers start hanging around more and coming to shows because of a growing Nazi presence resulting in violence so they had to start protecting each other and resultingly a lot of the kids that were punx ended up just being in the gang because of the ongoing clashes...that is nuts though still someone used to rock that in El Monte! Damn.
