for the commitment thing, i think people are just realizing how unhappy things are. If you ask anyone who has been married for decades, chances are someone cheated. Commitment levels are relatively the same now, same people still cheating and lying. the only difference is that it's more out in the open because of social media. Social etiquette even just 10 years ago asked that people would noy risk the reputation of others by outing their 'dirty laundry'. What is absolutely a problem is the lack of privacy. There's people who put their private moments, their inner most thought and things not meant to be shared out on the internet. This things being put include relationships and how they ended. I think it's almost good that people are giving more thought to marriage, whether it's deciding if it's for them or not because it saves time for people who want the opposite. It has been decades (if even that) that marriage, as it was suppose to be (two people who love eachother and want to continue doing so for the rest of their lives) has been a thing. If you look back at young couples, a large majority of them married only because premarital sex was heavily frowned upon. Lots of women married to move out and have some freedom instead of love. even in the 90s tons of people married to keep up appearances because someone fell pregnant and it reflected badly on both. It has been a long time since marriage has been about love instead of a social expectation. Now there's no need to keep appearances. Women don't actually need a man for anything so they stopped just taking cheaters back. Now that it's more of a fair playing field, women are more open about not wanting a man for much. Even now people are marrying for tax benefits and loans. It's better now for younger people looking to date becausse most of those social expectations no longer matter, now if you marry someone you are dating it is actually because you want to spend the rest of your life with them, not for some bogus reason.
