When Christine said her 2nd Ex “beat the shit out of me”, it was so touching to see everyone turn serious and how Sage touched her shoulder to check if she was okay. Idk in that moment I legit teared up and cried. You can tell that they are all respectful and empathetic people 😭❤️ I’m so glad Christine got out of the abusive relationship.

I find it so comforting how the guys reacted to Christine's experience. They can joke around and laugh about trivial things, but the minute she shared her experience with the abuse they were genuinely concerned and made follow-up questions to check if she was okay or if she was comfortable sharing this. I know it is the minimum we should expect but most of the time it isn't.

I acknowledge and look up to Christine and to the women in this podcast so much, they are truly a symbol for me that I am strong and I am loved. Abusive relationships are so common and I truly hate it, I just got out of mine two months ago and I'm still healing and going to therapy, I'm so happy I found suburb talks. Props for this whole conversation - everything from changing attitudes and tolerance or acceptance of sex work to dealing with abusive relationships and domestic violence, therapy, and kinda getting into some ideas on punitive justice vs rehabilitative justice (I know you didn’t use those terms specifically, but that’s what I heard when you talked about everything from wanting to fuck this dude up to him needing to go through therapy and debating whether or not he could change or whether the cycle of intergenerational violence you suspect he went through hard wired that into his system). Really appreciate you sharing this - I think it’ll help a lot of people. I have a ton of respect for the energy all of you brought to the different parts of this podcast

Christine talking about her ex really hit me hard, I used to get mentally abused by my ex and his mother (that we used to live with) right after high school, when I lived with them. It was definitely hard to talk about to others because I never wanted others to seem me as weak because I took this abuse or that it was just the mental warfare and not physical. When I finally was able to talk about it to someone they let me know that my trauma was still tough for someone to go through and I appreciated it. It's hard to talk to people about things like this. Love Christine being real and open about this on here. She's such a great person, I love when she is on these podcasts.

Also they made sure she covered all bases just so everybody understands that its not ok or how it id or just to help the people that went through that stuff. I saw the same tiktok that Nick was talking about, Kristen posted it and I'm half and half with it. I understand not wanting to because a lot of people like to keep their relationship private because they get shit after the breakup. I think it's based off of past relationships and issue you've gotten from past relationships.
@marascepovic82152 жыл бұрын
I’ve never been in a relationship but I think I’d be the same way. It’s not so much about what other people would think about the breakup and more that I wouldn’t want the breakup to be known about so publicly afterwards (ie. deleting a bunch of pics u had posted w them, taking their @ out of ur bio, etc.) I’d obvi like/comment on their posts and post on my story and stuff (and vice versa) but making it so that everyone knows the status of my relationship just by checking my Instagram is unnecessary and makes me a little uncomfortable. I’d like to expect the best (staying together) yet prepare for the worst (breaking up).
