i felt christine when she started to choke up about being moved back in with her parents. it’s this constant internal battle where logically you know and want to believe that you don’t have to figure your entire life out right now and that things will fall into place the way they need to when they want to. but at the same time the older generations do apply a lot of pressure on us and society makes it seem like there’s deadlines for everything like you have to be graduated from college by 24 meeting the love of your life and getting married and staring a family by the time you’re 30 buying a house by the time you’re 30. it’s like it’s drilled into our brains. i’m 24 working wanting to go to school but still at home with my mom, sometimes i feel like i’m just completely failing as an adult

I feel the same way and i’m 19, I feel like it’s even more of a prominent thing when you come from an immigrant family that probably didn’t graduate high school or even go to school.

this made me tear up :(, knowing that other people go through these feelings and experiences makes me feel less terrified. i just turned 21 not too long ago but i just wanna say, you’re doing amazing. there’s no standard for how to be a “perfect adult”, that “perfect” standard is something we set within ourselves. we can mold and change that standard whenever, you are ITTTTTT. you are doing amazing. please believe that

yeah im 24 as well and i still live with my parents bc logically, it’s convenient. it’s the smart thing to do especially with paying off school debt, saving money, and for me im so close to work. im also not paying rent, just paying some electricity/water bills but imagine if i had my own place to pay rent for, like that’s so unnecessary when i’m still paying off debt. it’s hard bc i feel like im also falling behind compared to friends and just being an independent adult, but my living situation now is the most logical thing to do🤷🏻‍♀️

This podcast really hit. Not that the others haven’t but this podcast made me realize that I’m going to be ok. My family have really been pressuring me about what I’m going to do with my life when I’m only 19. I’ve been busting my ass since I got out of high school and as the oldest child I think my parents haven’t realized that I can only take so much. My mental health has been really declining and I really felt it when Christine got uncomfortable with the topic of not liking being at home because I feel that way. I’m a college drop out but I’ve been working as a CNA for 7 months and I’m trying to go back to school but it’s not that simple because my parents aren’t gonna help me pay for my schooling and that’s has honestly been my biggest set back. Anyways thank you guys for honestly giving the best advice that you can it really helps us listeners a lot. Keep up the amazing work you guys are doing much love for each and everyone of you ❤

You’ll get through it girl❤I’m sure your hard work never goes unnoticed but if you really need to find some kind of time for yourself to focus on your mental health do not hesitate to put that first before work, school, family life, etc. i can also relate because I don’t even like to be home sometimes either for similar reasons as well. And I also am 18 in college and going to work but I try my best to throw in self care/me time because I notice it helps me a lot to de stress and rlly focus on me! If you can I’d recommend the same but none the less hang in there❤❤❤you got this and I’m sure you make your family so proud every time you take care of them❤

I turned 18 in May of this year and I also graduated, I came to college and it's kinda harder than I thought. I want to keep trying and I know what I want to do but recently I've just been stuck in a loop of comparing myself to others and thinking about life and it has been so miserable. I feel like I'm my own worst enemy but this episode of the podcast opened my eyes so much. I also completely understand where Cynthia and Christine are coming from I'm the firstborn daughter of two immigrants but what Nick said about not comparing yourself to your parents and that thinking about what you're going to do and realizing that a certain way of life isn't gonna work for you (basically just wanting better for yourself and knowing what you don't like) really was what I've needed to hear for a very very very long time. I'm just like amazed. maru was right about Eminem being morre famous because he’s white. just not in the usual context of it. Hip Hop and Rap was created and targeted for black culture. And like Sage said back when Em hit the scene all the most popular hip hop artists were black. it was a tight knit community, almost like a closed practice (figuratively). Em was one of if not THE first white rappers to be accepted into the community and have his name up there. he was the minority underdog in that situation.

however i disagree with nicks take that claiming Em to be the best rapper could be taken as disrespectful because rap is such a a huge part of black culture. i’d say that most of the big named rappers would agree Em is one of the greatest. everyone’s entitled to their personal taste. but honestly it can’t be denied.

I’m only 18 almost 19 and I have so much pressure to provide for my family when I barely make enough to save and also have spending money. I have an older sister who’s 24 and I feel like I’m doing all the hard since I decided not to go to school right away and just because of that my mom things I can help out and pay for so many things but like I can’t I’m young and want to live my life with a great mindset and just being happy

As a former “play w/ peoples feelings” person I was bored and hurt and didn’t have enough self-love so I just liked the attention from a lot of girls and I would lead people on because I was also scared of my feelings. when I was close to catch feelings or I already got the girl attached, I would leave and do sumn self-destructive when I knew she did everything and liked me but idk . Some of us are actually scared, don’t have enough self-love, or are just stupid and bored that you try find things to distract yourself from the fact that you actually just need to fix yourself… it feels “fun” but then you realize later that you’re actually a shitty person

It's crazy how this podcast came out and I finally decided to go to school though I did drop out already lol but then I took a big test and past and now I have the part 2 and if I pass I have my dream job. Crazy how long it took for me to get here but I totally understand what you guys were saying.
