Because simply put, it makes all of us talk about it even now. Had they picked someone with no strong ties to anyone we would overlook the hidden horror of leaving all you friends and family behind, because most people in Pokemon we only see by themselves. But being part of a duo and separate, we automatic feel bad that the two are not together even though we knew so little about them. It made Ingo and Emmett into popular characters!

I like that now the submas brothers are recognized and more loved again But on the other hand... it's a bit cruel that they have done this, separate two inseparable brothers... damn, seriously, poor ingo and I can't imagine how this emmet affect him In fact both are a hint of yin and yang, and this is a demonstration of what happens when they are separated.

Her name is Akari but since she has a strong resemblance to Dawn some people who make comics and stories rewrite her to actually BE Dawn. Some theorize that this is Dawn and that she renamed herself Akari because she couldn't remember her name due to amnesia. Also, because Dawn's past is known (and Akari's isn't), this makes stories about her amnesia and potential return to the present easier to explore because we already know several characters that would miss her.
