I feel, a Y splitter is a weaker form of splitter as oppose to a single (gold) splitter. The cables, plus connectors can weaken the transmission of signal strength to the sub. I’ve noticed my bass isn’t as transparent nor full in tonality while a single connector is plugged in my LFE input only. I mean, 3db is a lot of juicy texture that I gain.

Thank you for the info, I had experiences while watching movies that my subwoofer constantly turns off and wakes up but it's too late to hear the rumbles - I have to try your recommendation

Klipsch 12" sub. Good for movies, not music. Added a spliter to both inputs and turned it into a musical sub. Only using the LFE rca imput doesn't work for music. My sub rocks now. You're welcome, one person who needs to know this.

Very interesting topic about Y splitter input. I watched so many videos on KZbin about Home theater lately, but I believe you are the first one talking about this. I enjoyed home theater sound since it first came out to the market like 25 or 30 years ago, you remember Dolby Pro Logic ? Liked and sub to you, sir.

Good For You - went straight to the Point and Answered the Question. Thanks! Unlike so very many in KZbin who "Take The Long Way Around The Barn" ---- and often with a convoluted non-answer/answer.

Before setting up with the automatic measurement system from the AVR , just set the subs gain on about 9 o clock, no more. That will help with the auto turn on. You can increase the gain after setup is done.

Wat about if you have a home theater system that has a stock woofer and you also have a powered subwoofer can you hook up both woofers to the receiver sub out and run both

This is not true in all cases. Think of it the same way you do an AC power strip. It depends on the available current, and the draw of each device. There are a few if ands and buts you need to figure out through experimentation. But if you go wild with too many splitters, you will damage your amp. And If your front speakers are set on full range, their pre-outs also work well for an additional sub. In this case, it is best to use left + right, and a short cable; as the bass is not symmetrical in the front speakers, and you may pick up some noise from long cables.

I was wondering could you have a Y splitter (2x female - 1x male) to give two input signals to the subwoofer, lets say when you have two speaker systems and you want both of them to use the same subwoofer? I currently have a 5.1 system and a 2.0 system, but I want to turn it into a 5.1 and 2.1 system with the same subwoofer

Bought the splitter in my case it didn't make any changes compared to single mono RCA in the red port

Good point. The way I was speaking about it would be using it to double the input connections at the subwoofer

Hi I have the q acoustics 3060S. And the audiolab 6000A. Would it benefit me using a twin male from the pre outs on the amp to single female to the sub LFE? Im currently using a long twin RCA to amp and to the L/R ports on the sub. Im hazarding a guess no, as my amp doesnt have a dedicated sub input. Cheers

I have a Yamaha AVR with one sub-out. I connected a splitter to connect a Sony Sub but the sound was to low vs. the same Yamaha Sub that is both connected to AVR sub out with splitter. I tested the Sony Sub in Sony AVR and its load. Any thoughts on this?

So I've sold my sb-3000's and I'm ready to purchase two ported subs to replace them. I run a 2.2 for music and TV/movies and I just want deeper more tactile bass response. I also own Arendal 1723 speakers(Monitor) and I LOVE them after owning a lot of different and more expensive models. Anyhow, I really like the Monolith subs but the low output some people report is the biggest concern for me. Have you experienced this at all? Thank you, and I really enjoy your content and have been subscribed to you for a couple of years now.
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph. It's not that the Monolith subs have low output, it's just that their gain knob needs to be turned up more than people are used to. I believe it's because they use an analog volume control so the gain increase ramps up exponentially as you turn the dial higher if that makes sense. Once you get past 12 o'clock on the dial, every little bit increases the gain a lot. Mine are set at around 3 o'clock and I just leave the subs on all the time. My next gear review will probably be on these Monolith 13's but I do highly recommend them. They have tons of clean output and sound fantastic for music. If SVS and Rythmik had a baby, it would be this Monolith 13 lol. Thanks for being a long time supporter. I really appreciate it!

I was interested in the 13's but they're out of stock with an eta of June. I have two systems, both are in small to medium rooms, but we're house shopping so that will of course change(2 years now). I'm thinking of maybe getting a pair of the 12's and if I like them, I'll move them to my Bedroom system and then pick up the 13's when they come back into stock.

I have a Denon AVR 4306 that only has one subwoofer connection to my Velodyne CT100. I'd love to add another subwoofer. Would a Y connection at the AVR down grade the subwoofer sound or would the signal just be accurately split?

The issue you would have is not being able to delay or EQ the second sub individually plus both subs would get the same EQ from room correction

What about utilizing a male rca to 2 female rca splitter, connecting from one sub out on the receiver and then splitting to two subwoofers.would that have the same effect (this is a Yamaha receiver)?
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater 7 ай бұрын
If the receiver does not treat the subs individually, yes this would do the same thing

Hi guys. Just have a question about Subwoofer. The thing is: I have an Onkyo AVR with a RCA Pre Out Subwoofer connector and a Marantz Amplifier with the same RCA Pre Out Subwoofer connector. My question is: As I have only space for one Subwoofer in my room, the Subwoofer I have is an Active Subwoofer with the same ( RCA SUB IN ), I was wondering if it´s possible to connect via a ( Y ) Subwoofer cable or adapter both devices to use the same Subwoofer, Of course I will use one at a time, not both at the same time. If I want to watch a movie then I use the AVR but if I want to lisent music then use the amplifier. I just want to be able to share one subwoofer with these two devices. I hope someone can help. Thanks a lot in advance

you technically can but without a way to add separate delay, it will be difficult to get them to play nice together
@alexhine7884

You're not doubling anything. You're splitting a signal, both channels will retain the same voltage. The only reason it might solve that issue is both channels on the sub are now loaded. Meaning that the auto function requires both source channels to be active in order to turn on. Don't speak on things you dont understand. You'll get people more confused than you are.

This is completely not true. You use a y at your output so that both your subwoofers can have a left and right input. And so can your amplifier for your Tower speakers or surround sound? Your subwoofer will perform significantly better with a left and a right compared to an LFE channel.

This is 💯%NOT TRUE !!IT Makes my subwoofer I have SVS and I have Klipsch Subwoofers both produce more sound so what you're saying is not true my friend I hate to tell you but using a splitter will give that amplifier on the back of the subwoofer more input which in turn will give more output guys trust me I have been doing this for over 30 years I have no reason to Lie !!
