Great news, I’ve been putting off buying the new Game Colour big box until the strike was over. Solidarity now, solidarity forever!

With the recent increase in price that came with the new Warpaint Fanatic range from Army Painter, Vallejo are the cheapest paints in the hobby market (at least here in Spain) And that didn't compromised the quality one bit (I'd say that they are even better now with the renewal of their range) A bit of a price increase due to the results of the strike and the new and better conditions for the workers shouldn't be a problem. We'll see what happens though. Great video by the way 😊

They are the cheapest here in Romania too, with the regular lines being around 1.90$ per bottle, and Xpress being around 2.60. Sets like Nocturna also keep the pricing of the individual bottles. I managed to grab a Fairy Flesh set this month, when I went to my local store to get Xpress paints for a paint job. I wouldn't mind a rise in prices, as long as it doesn't get to the AP or GW level. And besides, unless you're a heavy duty painter or you waste a lot of paint, they last a long time.

As you say, as long as they stay very competitive, they will still be the go to for many hobbyists. Here in Japan they are far cheaper than GW paints and a lot better (even if that is just because they are in dropper bottles and contain more paint).

I prefer lacquer paint but i often buy vallejo paints, im happy that the workers got success and i hope that it will bring optimism for the company and the industry in general. A change in prince is not that much of a problem as long as it is on the line with quality and respect of the workers.

Great update! Have not tried any of the newer formulations. Will prob pick up some in the New Year.

Thanks. I haven't bought many of the new paints myself, but I have gotten other stuff such as thinner, retarder, diorama FX, brushes etc. and I have been pretty happy with them all.
@meph367616 сағат бұрын
what will happen short term is, price will be passed to consumer via shrinkflation and then increases, maybe cut in qulity. long term, firings of expensive staff single parents etc and replace with automation.

Why it is important to keep track of anything that will happen at Vallejo in the coming years.

Vallejo have always been hard to find in game stores for me
@ZombieSashimi11 сағат бұрын
It seems to be very dependant on where you are in the world. Many Americans have said that they find it hard to find where they live, but there is also a greater amount of choice of other brands, whereas in Japan, we have one main store that supplies Vallejo, otherwise you are stuck with GW (unless you want the Gundam paints from Mr Color and Tamiya, which are absolutely everywhere!)

Most of the line can be found at Hobby Lobby, if theres one near you.

Thank you for sharing and the content. Does the Vallejo Airbrush Thinner also contain Vallejo Retarder? I typically combine Thinner w/Retarder and w/FlowImprover (all three). Perhaps I am doubling up on the Retarder?
@ZombieSashimi11 сағат бұрын
Good question. A quick look online seems to come up that the thinner does not act as a retarder, but it looks like the airflow improver does. However, if it works for you I don't see the harm in adding the retarder. Before I got the retarder, I used Airflow Improver as a retarder for some brush on paints, but the retarder works much better for brush on paints.

That's some good news at the end of this year 😀 And a good list, too. I'll give that glaze medium a try, at some point. I struggle a bit with consistency while glazing, so this sounds promising.
@ZombieSashimiКүн бұрын
I have found it helps when I struggle with thinning with water for glazing. Still recommend having a wet paper towel to unload the brush so you are not carrying too much on the tip as well.
@highlordalcadizakyr1479Күн бұрын
i would add flow improver and varnishes to that list, if they rise the price i switch to ak interactive. vallejo is for me just a substitut for things that are missing in the pro acryl line
@argy8141Күн бұрын
I've recently been adding more Pro Acryl to my paints, even before the strike started. I haven't ventured near Army Painter as I really hated the old range and not sure I want to venture into Fanatics. I use Citadel's contrast paints, some technical paints and Corvus Black (haven't found a colour like it). I have a lot of Vallejo, the Metal Color range is fantastic and I exclusively use the Vallejo airbrush thinners/ flow improver and primers. But over time I can more Vallejo paints being replaced by Pro Acryl as I just enjoy the feel and coverage of the Pro Acryl paints I've used.

Can you paint realistic flesh tones with the Malefic and Fairy sets or are they strictly fantasy? Btw, your video was a great summary of Vallejo products. I too hope the workers have better conditions.
@ZombieSashimi11 сағат бұрын
The set has a range of paints that can move in two distinct styles - regular flesh tones and fantasy flesh tones. The regular flesh tone is more muted, while the fantasy flesh tone is very bright and impactful. You can also mix and match the tones to make some unique skin tones as well. They are generally good for caucasian skin, but I will still use these with other paints to create darker skin tones as well.

What is miniature gaming in Japan actually like? And are there any native japanese ones?
@ZombieSashimi2 күн бұрын
Mostly in Osaka people play GW games. This is also true for Native Japanese, but I do believe there is a scene for Warmachine. Tokyo has a greater variety of games being played in the Akihabara area with a stronger Infinity and Malifaux scene as I understand it.
@gav-gf7cr2 күн бұрын
@@ZombieSashimi I passed by the GW when on holiday in Japan in september, but it was closed. I actually meant native japanese games, not gamers 😉
@ZombieSashimiКүн бұрын
@@gav-gf7cr Sorry, my bad. Japanese gamers usually fall into the MtG and Pokemon camps, while those into models are more about the building, rather than the gaming side of things. I don't know of any Japanese made miniature gaming systems.

i live in america and it could impact me here if it vanishes. the biggest loss for me is their game color line matches old 2008 era citadel paint range and thus matches my older army paint schemes. like bloody red matches old blood red that i used during 5th edition for blood angels. the silvers match the old silvers i used when i started necrons in 2009. seems i will be stocking up at my local hobbytown usa "yes thats an actual store name lol" before those prices spike on me. now if vallejo opens a manufacturing plant here in the united states, that would be amazing. would make the paints safe from a major price hike and tariffs.
@ZombieSashimi11 сағат бұрын
I hope that it is able to stay for you. It looks like they are opening up a new factory, but it will be in Spain (Catalonia) and they will be moving from their old factory to the new one.

@ZombieSashimi2 күн бұрын

Yeah the peons should just continue working in unsafe conditions and for bare minimum pay, how dare they demand such frivolous things like a living wage? Or how about you do a little less overblown whining and show a little solidarity with the people who make our hobby supplies?
