You need to zoom in on what you’re doing. You can’t see it unless you zoom in . Love your way you do your pouch. Pretty material.

Thank you. I think it's rather pretty too. If you check the date of the video, you'll see it was made right at the beginning when I was very much in the learning stages. Since then, my video making skills have developed considerably. One thing I've realized being on this side of the camera is the amount of time, money, and energy involved and the very wide range of skills needed to produce FREE content. It's been a huge learning curve and I have a much greater appreciation for what is offered by channels.

@@InTheStudioWithMyrna I share the comment that it would be more effective if you made the video facing the camera, of course the way of applying the closure is excellent and looks super neat.

@anapittamiglio1228 I'm not making more videos, so this is it. Hopefully, there's enough that works. The whole process is not cheap, is very time consuming, and is a steep learning curve. You'll have read in my earlier reply that this one was made near my beginning.

For what it’s worth I’ve been sewing for roughly 40 years and was taught by my mother, who was an incredibly talented seamstress. I’ve made a shift recently from garment sewing to sewing accessories. I will also watch many tutorials on the same subject to gather bits and bobs on construction techniques. I’ve learned a lot from this video and would like to thank you for sharing your expertise!! ❤

@@vksdub7185No, you avoid sewing the the tabs at all cost. They is why she added the 1/8 turn of cloth. She will sew with a 3/8 seam and that 1/8 allows you to avoid hitting that tab. That total space was 1/2” only 3/8 of the 1/2 inch is sewn .

Myrna is there a reason why you cannot stitch the lining side down the same distance as the top side stitching ? That same area would be left free of the stitching .You would still have both seam area free. Have you ever had the lining get stuck in the zipper ?

Bravo Myrna. I can't believe how much I picked up from this quick video. An explanation of why you're doing, what you're doing, is the glue that makes an idea stick and it's missing from just about every other tutorial I watch. It's nice to be reminded that taking your time and properly pressing out seams makes a huge difference in the finished product. My mother taught me that, but I got caught up in all the quick-make tutorials out there and have lots of wonky pouches to prove it. I never understood the significance of the texture change on zip tape. Thanks to you, I finally understand where I'm supposed to sew to get a good result on my zippers. Also love your idea of extending the tab length a bit so you have a launch and landing area for the presser foot.

You are very talented and speak/work at a good place. I am definitely subscribing. Just a few suggestions: At times the caption box was over what you were demonstrating. Also perhaps do a close up because I couldn't see where you were talking about when discussing stitching the texture line on the zipper. I think the color may have been a factor.

Thanks for subscribing and for the suggestions. I have no control over where the caption box goes BUT... if you click on the cog icon, you can turn them off. I'm not sure what device you're watching on but I find if I use full screen that I can see some of those details better and then compare it to... in this case... a zipper you have at home. Hope that helps. Thanks for the suggestions.

Fabric turn. Spectacular information thanks for the breakdown of this process. I've been struggling a wee bit when i make a pouch. 1/8 for the win.

You're welcome. I'm glad it was helpful. Turn of the cloth is another term that's commonly used. The thicker the fabric, the more turning room needed.

Thank you for this. I have made lots of pouches and have been topstitching the main fabric and lining together, right across. They come out much better like this.
