I've been tearing my hair out trying to get zippers with tabs installed! As someone else said this is the first time I've seen someone say to sew the inner and outer layers separately. Can't wait to try this. Thanks!
@bunny-nn1oo4 жыл бұрын
Did it work for you? I followed the instructions and I'm not really happy with the results. I'm wondering what am I doing wrong
@SoulsJourney4 жыл бұрын
@@bunny-nn1oo Unfortunately with everything else going on, I haven't even had a chance to try it yet. I did notice on her pouch where she sewed the top stitching on the outside fabric, the stitch line didn't go *quite* all the way to the edge of the fabric. I don't know what your project ended up looking like, so I don't know if that might have had any effect?
@bunny-nn1oo4 жыл бұрын
@@SoulsJourney There is a hole in between the side of the pouch and the tab. If the tab is fully out, the hole is visible, if I try to put the tab in, it's sucked in, because the opening is still triangular. :(
@bunny-nn1oo4 жыл бұрын
@@SoulsJourney The other thing is that she never shows the pouch from the side (or I can't find it), where the hole between side seam and the tab is. Maybe it doesn't look good from that side. I can make it look good from the top and front, but not from the side
@SoulsJourney4 жыл бұрын
@@bunny-nn1oo That's frustrating. Since you reminded me about this, I think I'll give one a try in the next couple of days. I'll come back and let you know how I make out with it.

Thank you so much. This is an extremely helpful video. Your oral explanation, coupled with close up video clips, make all the difference. I’d never thought of sewing in half sections, sewing one side seam of the bag and then flipping the bag over to the other side just so it is easier to complete. Sometimes we just need reminders and suggestions to do things a different way. A good reminder that there are no seam police present and to give yourself permission to do things your own unique way. This mindset also helps work around the constraints of individual sewing machines.
@auntmayme81192 жыл бұрын
Six minutes in and I’m in awe. You gave two important tips I never knew: 1) clip away the other fabric near the tab and sew one half. 2) Sew in two different directions so that the fabric edge faces the inside of your machine. Priceless!

This was quite helpful. Thanks for sharing. I either end up sewing over the tab and end up with bunched up fabric or sew too far away and have a hole between the side seam and the tab. I guess it just takes practice.

Very clear instructions. This is the first tutorial where I’ve seen each section seen separately. I think that’s brilliant. Thank you! You didn’t mention the size of the zipper tab. Are they all basically cut the same size? I noticed when you were using your turning tool to pop out the corner where the zipper tab is that there was an open space. When we sew our zipper tabs is that something we should be seeing each time? Thank you.

@cathynuytten7982 жыл бұрын
Looks to me like the tabs can be as long as you want. Probably no more that an inch or it will be harder to access the inside of the bag. I think I will glue the edges down and then top stitch, then sew each section together. What do you think? Just my two cents.
