Success with BCB MK2 at last

This is my go-to cook system. My wife bought me my MkII two years ago and I haven't looked back. Its versatility is its standout quality with the different fuel choices available. My preference is a trangia, meths with a 10% water mix and windshield. This allows me to snuff out the burner as soon as my water is ready and no wasted fuel. A full trangia will usually offer me 4 good burns, sometimes 5 which is more than enough for a hot dehydrated meals and a brew. I strap my windshield to the outside of the supplied pouch with a couple shockcord bungees. Thank you for sharing and take care.

Glad to see you got the issues you had with it sorted Harry, I used my mk1 all weekend with my firerope stove and meths, from first light to middle of the night, very cold, all about fuel prep with the meths ,my son loves his mk2 system with meths stove, thank you for doing some more testing, enjoyable video, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig 🙏 🌿

I built a fire rope stove in a round tin that fit into the fuel ring. That way, if I want to use my trangia, I can easily remove the rope stove. I can use whatever fuel I desire.

Hi Harry, I use dragon gel quite a lot with the MK1 and like it, yes it does burn a bit fast but it's quite clean, doesn't really leave much residue at all and does the job admirably. You had a good day out then bud with the trial and error method and more importantly you got a hot brew. All the best for 2022. Paul.

Thanks for having another bash at it Harry, I've not got either Crusader and really can't justify another cooking system but I like to see how they 'behave'. Like you I'm a fan of the meths but haven't tried diluting with water, I know they burn cleaner but in your opinion are they harder to light when you add that 10% or so of water ???

Thanks for your kind comments. Actually, even the half water and half meth mix lit relatively easily with a match, although in anger I would not take any risks, however, 10% dilution is safe and clean. Atb. Harry

Actually bud, I've reverted to the mark 1 and gifted the bulky and energy losing m2 ti a willing soul. Hapoy days when one simplifies kit and de clutters. 🙂

One of life's simple pleasures ... brewing up in the woods, chilling out for 15-20 minutes and letting nature wash over you. I keep experimenting ... hexy, BCB folding stove, Crusader Mug cooker, wood stoves, jet boil, meths ... they all have their pro's and cons. I was not keen on dragon fire gel at first BUT its grown on me and i can see why the MoD switched over too it. I especially like that it can be used as a soap/disinfectant/hand sanitizer ... lights easier than hexy and is great as an emergency fire starter.
