You have the air vet fully open to get it going then dampen it when it gets going.

The flames, it is pulling air and exhausting out the top. If you reduce the air, it will slow the burn and lower the flames, looks great

Is there an ash collector or does it pile up inside chamber, a couple of extras from one hot tenter to another, tin tray from morrisons to seat it and cheap metal folding windshield £1.50 from temu mainly just to control drafts and channel wind but also reflects heat and creates more of a safe space, I'm going to push my £20 stove for another year cause it still works but got my eye on one of these for future 🫡👍

It looks like a decent enough stove, your just missing the spark arrester, obviously you control the air flow from the front door, sometimes there's a damper on the pipe, don't forget to get yourself a carbon monoxide detector.
