As an architecture student… I’m proud to say that I’ve done every single mistake you mentioned. 😂 But I guess that’s the better way I’ve learned, although a bunch of tips like these ones come in handy. ☺️ Thank you, Kyle! Kudos for all the content you’ve been uploading. 🤩

A site analysis is so important and takes a lot of time and effort ,when I was a student our professor used to focus more on how we do it and of course why it's so necessary to do it well , the sketching phase and conception depends a lot on this analysis so that problems like ones that you have mentioned will not be found . It's very helpful

As an architect student and practitioner I think THAT simplicity and multiple good drawing and schemes does more than a loaded set of analysis. Big is a master of this. These people understand site operations quite well. Site analysis is AWARENESS of the forces that govern your design and design decisions. Nothing else.

So useful! Thanks! If you think of the TIME VALUE aspect of your presentation. You dont want to waste the time of your professor or client explaining unnecessary (less significant) findings because each second is more 'expensive' for them as they get paid/earn more. Also there is probably 1 presentor explaining and a bunch of people listening which accumulates to a lot more time value invested in seeing the presentation than presenting.

I hated doing these Site Analysis diagrams in school where it just looked like information overload. Sometimes it felt like a checklist. Instructors just wanted you to show that you did enough research but you never used it to inform the design. I'll tell you this from experience, I don't do this in the office now 😂
@kylesinko3 жыл бұрын
Haha exactly right… thanks for sharing!

Noted: - Any data should be useful for analysis and practice. - Graphic: Let the drawing tell the audience. Less text. Only show what need to show. - Don let the site analysis data leaves there and no use afterward. - Don use Site analysis with site plan. Use sketch or other drawing instead.

How do you find the sun path of a specific site
@kylesinko3 жыл бұрын
It's usually as simple as searching for it on Google. You can also geo-locate your Revit, Archicad or similar model to integrate the sun path into your model using shadows.

I have a question that’s been confusing me a lot, some countries take architecture in 3 years and some take architecture in 5 years why is that what is the difference between them ? Like United Arab Emirates is 5 years but Australia is 3 years. Please if you have an explanation for this I would really appreciate it
@kylesinko3 жыл бұрын
I think you’re comparing different courses. In Australia the bachelors of architecture is 3 years but architectural registration also requires a 2 year master degree. It used to be a 5 year bachelor course but changed about 10 years ago. As for why other countries are shorter or longer, each country have their own registration requirements but all are generally 4-7 years
@vimbaimakanyire39692 жыл бұрын
@@kylesinko do you know why Australia changed the bachelors from 5yrs to 3? I'm in AU and I find it great that they did because I'm able to take time after the bachelors and work a bit before doing the masters to see if I wanna qualify/ not but was just wondering the reason

serious question: what is analysis in general and how do you do it
@LifeofanArchitect_TylerD3 жыл бұрын
Analysis is the detailed examination of the elements or structure of something. So when you're doing a site analysis, you should be examining how the site will interact with your proposed building or the existing building if there is one. You want to understand the context surrounding the building to better integrate the two.
