I love how Shiv was trying to strong-arm Gerri in this scene because it's hilariously transparent. She sits down, expecting Gerri to follow, but Gerri plays "dumb" and stays standing which made things instantly awkward for _Shiv_ and put her at a disadvantage because Gerri was standing above her. So she has to stand up again and get on Gerri's eye level. And then trying to make Gerri a victim and when that didn't work make it seem like Gerri's been enjoying Rome's sexual advances (insinuating there's a sexual history that has been going on for a while). It was so jejune (lol) of Shiv and amateurish. And shameless. She really wants Rome's mistake to be her opening to get the top job and manipulate Gerri to get there without realizing that to get where Gerri is, you have to put up with a lot of shit along the way to get to the top. You don't just waltz to the top because daddy owns the company. Gerri's legal counsel for a Fortune 500, advising one of the world's most important men, smart, shrewd, careful, all while being the only woman in Logan's inner-circle (and middle-age, no less, which seems even more shocking given that you'd expect ageism to work against her even more). Shiv is far too immature for the job, let alone be taken seriously by anyone who has even any sort of professional pride and who's had to deal with Logan for decades. Edit: fixed two words

It all goes back to the "how much is a gallon of milk" scene. The roy siblings dont know what it is to fight for things, both from their sheltered upbringing and from their psychological abuse at logan and caroline's hands. They think they are entitled to the top job because they are logan's kids, but at the end of the day they can't do Jack shit. This scene is so good bc shiv (as much as I love her character) really thought she could passive aggressively threaten gerri, a well seasoned businesswoman who, even at her age, is on Logan's inner circle. It's so much funnier given the context of the season finale. There's a reason gerri knew about the gojo deal and the kids didnt. Just like Rhea put it: "shiv thinks shes smarter than she really is".

In the books the difference is huge between the first book, in which Cersei has no chapters from her point of view and you think she is a master mind and the next ones when reality is unveiled and you see her as the neurotic entitled brat she actually is.

Cersei is a failure because she lacks the brains of both Tywin and Tyrion. The show may make it "appear" as though she is smart to make her a stronger antagonist. But it's very clear from the books that Cersei isn't significantly smarter than average at all. Shiv was actually highly intelligent and found success in politics. Being beaten by Logan, who is an expert at what he does, does not make her less intelligent. He wouldn't be able to beat her in her expertise either.

Gerri and Shiv is not in the same level for a matchup here. SPOILER ALERT :: Gerri played Logan like a pro and Won! Shiv couldnt even play her own husband whom she married to keep as a pet. Tom gave so many hints showing he can be the smartest one. Even Roman figured it when he asked shiv "should i be worried about Tom?' . But Shiv completely underestimated her husband living under the same fucking roof for years. I cant believe she did not see it coming. Tom wouldnt have Won at the end if Shiv hadnt made it so easy for him to win. Shiv underestimates everyone, which leads to her downfall eventually. She fools everyone into thinking she is the best and smartest one. But some of the viewers aint fool. We know whats going on here. After all the seasons one can simply put it out that SHIV IS NOT AS SMART AS SHE THINKS SHE IS. This is a massive vulnerability. All in all, at this level Gerri is way way ahead of Shiv. But maybe in Season 4 if Shiv can power up after seeing what her vulnerability did to her and her siblings.

Its only starting to strike me right now how much the Roys are pretty much the Lannisters. Shiv is Cersei, acting sleek when she wants something and thinking herself smarter than she is. Roman is Tyrion, craving his father's esteem but often failing at it and acting like the clown. Kendall is Jaime, the eldest son but failing to live up to his father's skills, way too nice in comparison to his father as well which puts him in a predicament. Obviously Logan is Tywin, the celibate patriarch, force of nature, leading his clan with an iron hand. I just think Logan is more instinctive and hot blooded than Tywin whereas Tywin is more intellectually smart, cold blooded and really 10 steps ahead of everyone else. Logan seems to be less in control of what he does in the show. Also Logan manages to be 100 times more odious than Tywin, and much, much worse to his children than Tywin (Tyrion being the exception). On the other hand, I think Logan deep down loves his children much more than Tywin does.

Sarah Snook is doing such a great job tbh. I find Shiv to be the coldest of the 3. Idk if it's the writing, but her character just doesn't have as much emotional development in the way that Kendall and Roman do and therefore she is harder to empathize with. Kendall and Roman are both seen to struggle with their love for their family when faced with the choice of screwing them over to further their CEO agenda. I actually feel like Roman might be the most sensitive to it. I don't feel that with Shiv. There was a bit in the scenes with Shiv and Caroline that made me really feel empathy for her so hopefully we get more of that. But overall she's just better at shutting her emotions off than Roman or Kendal I think.
