I personally think you would love Mad Men. Excellent writing with much intrigue. When i first finished Mad Men, it felt like an emptiness in my life trying to start anything new on TV. Nothing hit that spot for me... Then Succession came around. Anytime I rewatch these I'm reminded of how dull some of the newer TV shows are.

I totally agree with your 'love' of Succession. I absolutely love the whole series. I too have the 4 series - but on DVD and I intend soon to replace that with the BR set. I have just finished watching 'Ripley'. Now THAT does deserve a 4K release. Such beautiful black & white photography together with something of a Hitchcockian feel that would look wonderful given a 4K treatment. I urge you to seek this series out. Additionally, another of my all time fave TV progs is 'Yellowstone'. I'm eagerly awaiting the final part of series 5 - the final series - and again, this would look so good in 4K - the majestic scenery alone deserves that.

I got Succession on Blu-ray as a total blind buy, I’m excited to watch it soon. I love collecting television shows, I have about 100 different shows on Blu-ray and 200 shows on DVD. I live a block away from a Goodwill and I’m in a military town so there’s tons of turnover and things to find. My best deal was finding the complete series of House on Blu-ray for $2. The best boutique deal I’ve found was the Three Colors trilogy on Blu-ray for $6.

My favorite show of the last however many years is undoubtedly How To With John Wilson. Totally unique form, thoughtful and heartwarming too. There's nothing else quite like it, it feels off-the-cuff and real but also completely planned

I think Breaking Bad would be a great 4K release. It was already produced in 4K and it would be a Sony series. Besides some boutique labels, Sony is the studio with a bunch of the absolute best 4K discs. Nobody does catalogue titles better.

Those disc holders that remove from the case is how they are supposed to be. I think because of the combined weight it would break if secured to the inside.

Elliot, if you want a TV recommendation, check out The Leftovers that ran for 3 seasons from 2014, imo one of the very best dramas of the last ten years or so. The only available complete blu-ray boxset is a French import (with English subs thankfully!), otherwise it’s individual seasons. It’s hard to describe if you haven’t seen it, but it’s really quite something

I’m definitely picky with what tv shows or series I want to own physically. I mostly don’t buy them because I don’t want all those discs and clutter and can stream everything but there are certain things I’m afraid of being lost to streaming or might disappear one day that are so visually fantastic that I want them on disc. But I don’t need the complete series of The Wire, The Office, or Sopranos on DVD taking up space in my house.

One of my favorite series of all time was Bryan Fuller's Dead Like Me. Fuller is also responsible for Pulling Daisies, Wonderfalls, and Hannibal. (All good shows too.) Another would be American Gothic (1995) A highly under-seen show. Like Stephen King meets X-Files.

Not interested in TV series on 4k. Unless maybe Sony because they would do it right. These other studios can barely get a 2 hour movie graded and encoded properly onto disc. Hundreds of hours of TV? No chance. it will be automated crap just like Friends 4k which falls apart past season1

Low IQ take. You don’t need action and explosions to justify 4K. It’s still a visual medium and a lot of craft goes into the cinematography and camerawork of a show like Succession.
