Everything was directed in a way that we as the viewers will experience all of it first hand, the levels of grief, the shock, the disbelief. So sudden. No build-up, no foreshadowing. The absolute master use of misdirection, from the preview scenes, to the title of the episode, to the setup before the theme song, I always thought this was a possibility to end the show with but the way they did it still somehow nailed the suspense and shock of the moment. My jaw was literally dropped when the camera panned over. Connors wedding scenes with the behind the scenes shots from the windows on boat showing all the plotting and scheming you know is going on between the Gerri and Hugo and the plane group. I can’t believe it’s really happening, succession is living up to its name in the truest sense since s1e2. Amazing episode and really well done.

I finished the episode an hour ago. Likely the greatest tv episode I felt I've ever watched, because of how it brought me back to an awful, similar moment in 2015. Brilliant acting, writing and production, to bring me to tears when on the phone with my Mum shortly after.

Each of the kids reactions had me struggling to hold back tears, but Connor's lines "He never even liked me...I never got the chance to make him proud of me" was the final straw. That broke me 😭😭 Brilliantly written and masterfully acted episode.

I think this is the first time in any television show that the this feels like an actual seismic death. What an amazing long game it was and how magnificent the payoff is. These last episodes are about to be studied for years!

The actors are exceptional in this episode. The news strips their characters down to essentials - vulnerable, indecisive and looking for comfort - and the actors show all of that with so much truth. They and the writers deserve all the awards.

the out of nowhere death and the news and communication spreading through phone nervous and sad phone calls is incredibly realistic. I lost a close family member recently and the situation was very similar to this episode. except you know we are poor 😂

This is a long, rambly comment, but bear with me. This episode was so powerful on so many levels. Logan’s death was shocking, yet the lack of build-up towards his death is what makes it all the more real. No one prepares for death, and no family, not even the Roy’s, are immune from that reality. The way that the cast performed in this episode was superb; the shock, the denial, the grief, the pain. It was beautiful to watch how to Roy children came together to support one another. I am in awe of the talent of these incredible actors. And my god, I have such admiration for the writers, the director and the crew for this incredible episode. E4 is a triumph, a culmination of extremely talented people working together to create a powerhouse of a show. It was absolutely incredible. I held my breath for the whole hour of the episode and couldn’t let go. A heart wrenching watch. Wow.

same here. and sites like LA Times releasing an obituary for Logan the second the episode airs is beyond stupid. I'd be crushed if years of build up was ruined by some click bait garbage

So I had seen a picture of the 3 siblings hugging on an IG story, luckily I didn't read into it. I got the gut punch when I saw the episode as intended. The whole treatment felt too real.

Without a doubt one of the most brilliant one hour of television I have ever seen. If every actor, writer, producer and directors of this show do not take home emmys for this episode alone they might as well shut down the ceremony. Excellent work to all

Succession captured the true unexpected and sudden nature of death. Right up until the end you can't believe that Logan died, when the phone call is made you're probably thinking that it's a heavy play from Logan to scare off the kids since at the beginning of the episode he said that they'll go aggressive. And we all expect everything from him, but as it goes on and on you keep wondering. Denial fear anger and bitterness. One of the best episodes of all time

Seeing characters like Shiv, Roman, and Con who typically hide their emotions behind a shield finally break in their own little ways was so moving. I love how amazing of a grasp the writers and actors have of their characters - I know it might sound super trivial when I say that everyone reacted to Logan’s Death reacted EXACTLY how they would react but you’d be surprised how many movies/tv shows try to force moments out of certain characters and therefore miss the mark, especially in their final seasons. We’re truly witnessing modern day Shakespeare.

My god this was an hour of TELEVISON! Hooked from start to finish with my mouth hanging open, just excellent. Anyone who has lost a loved one suddenly, even the ones who are though to love, this whole episode just stabs you right in the heart. He lived and died for the conquest of money/power, disgusted by the kind of personalities that fostered in the children he raised. Then he just f*ckd off and died! The anger and unresolved feelings were just insanely real.
