"Because my dad told me to." That line is so underrated af. One, yes, his dad did tell him to do it but it's also a fuck you to Lawrence for not supporting him in the no confidence vote which would have gotten rid of his dad. Also, Kendall pounded the table for Vaulter but Logan was always skeptical of the company yet Lawrence never took Kendall seriously or respected him. So, this was Kendall's big FU to Lawrence thus the "find another chicken coop" line.

I never considered the no confidence vote here, brilliant catch.
@SuperScarface832 жыл бұрын
The tragic irony that Lawrence never seemed to realize is that, in failing to support Kendall in the first season, he effectively doomed Vaulter. Not because Kendall was vindictive and would kill Vaulter in revenge --- even in this episode, Kendall was still fighting for Vaulter because the acquisition of Vaulter was one of his biggest goals while he was in charge. Instead, Lawrence doomed Vaulter because his petty refusal to support Kendall's leadership led to the ouster of the biggest cheerleader that Vaulter had on Waystar Royco's Board of Directors.

Platitudes abound. Meanwhile, the people in charge will either continue to draw fat salaries or fail upwards into another job. Even though he's a complete prick in this scene, at least Kendall has the balls to turn up and swing the axe in person. Sorry but this is such a misread in my opinion. Kendall didn't want to gut Vaulter. There's the scene with him, Logan and Roman where he goes to bat for them, but Logan says no and tells Kendall what to do. This scene is showing Kendall at his lowest point of dignity. Your targets today are Lawrence Yee, founder and CEO of Vaulter, a digital news media startup, and Kendall Roy, an executive at media giant Waystar Royco and heir apparent to his father's empire. Roy is currently prowling the halls at Vaulter while Yee oversees operations in the news room. The Vaulter offices are located in the Waystar Royco building, so expect security to be tight, particularly in light of Kendall Roy's apparently unexpected decision to drop by. Tensions are high on this one 47; between Kendall's public drug issues and Yee's willingness to bite the hand that feeds we could be looking at quite the bombshell. Let's give the media a different story to report on. I shall leave you to prepare." Mission Challenges: Stop The Presses! - Eliminate Yee by pushing him into a printing press +4000xp White Bylines - Cause Kendall Roy to relapse +2000xp Fox In The Chicken Coop - Leak news of Kendall's plan to gut Vaulter and have Yee eliminate Roy +4000xp

How so? He’s not a serious person. He was created and destroyed by his father. Kendall wants to be a big boy, but he’s just a boy. He’ll always be his father’s son. He’s just doing what his dad did to him.

@@mondoseguendo6113 He refused to back Kendall when he was gunning for the CEO after Waystar became majority shareholder of Vaulter. Then Logan decided to gut Vaulter because it was the deal that Kendall made. Lawrence literally fucked himself when he didn't back Kendall. That lead to this moment.

My favourite Ken scene of the series. Where he becomes the Darth Vader to Logan’s Emperor.

People say he rides a motorcycle now because of the accident but personally I think it’s symbolism that he’s prepared for anything now - learning from his mistakes (won’t get caught in traffic again)

I know he got spit in the face but after when Kendall looked him in the eye and said "Is that all you got?" He said that in such a badass way. It was like he's saying "That's it? Here look, I just wiped it off. Now go have fun in the Unemployment line."

Wrong. Lawrence hated Kendall. We agree that this scene is iconic, but I find it incredible when Lawrence is yelling at Kendall as he walks up the stairs, literally Kendall ignoring him accidentally said: We are not on the same level, I had to crawl to yours, but you will never climb back to mine. I felt like for some reason everything in Kendall was screaming: UNTOUCHABLE

I like how there’s a RIDICULOUS amount of staff for a website that probably 5 people could run. 🤣 Firing them all really does make sense.

The writers redirected the story after the first season, plus the actor seemed to have more insecurities than Kendall, it was probably better to get him out earlier.

I love the way Kendall's story was told. If we had started in season two he would come off as a pathetic snot nosed daddy's boy here. But we know the history, we know how Logan got him this under his control, so we know that Kendall when he's like this is like one of Satan's hounds. He is terrifyingly empty and he can be used to destroy whatever his dad needs destroying. Honestly deeply sinister and I love it.
