@@jackdolah2031 You just didn't understand what happened, and that's ok. But it WAS an ending, even if it was just "another cycle", this time everyone actually got something out of it. Roman realized they were bullshit and removed himself from this way of life. Shiv accepted that she was never going to be taken seriously. Kendall finally got hit with the fact that he really wasn't as talented as he thought he was, and that he really didn't "deserved" the "throne" at all. Tome finally got to a position of power, but at the cost of his sense of urgency, choosing to be a puppet for yet another more powerful man. So on and so forth. Everyone got the ending they deserved.

The way he said "I'm the eldest boy" and the whole monologue after that, it came across as funny and painful at the same time, like I initially laughed and after letting it settle in, understood that he's a shell of a man who only has one thing going for him, for it to be taken from him essentially takes everything away. Beautiful. Truly one of the best pieces of TV since Breaking bad.

Yes anyone wanted another ending did not get it. I wanted this kind of ending even though I knew it would be painful. Still Kendall getting it all is in no way a happy ending either. It would be the same kind of destruction of the characters. I am not so sure Shiv will have an unhappy ending after all… and I do not see it as patriarchy winning. After all Tom is just CEO and not a owner. But Shiv choosed Tom in the voting instead of Kendall because that was the way to patch up things again with him, to give him this victory. And now she could focus on her child. I do not see that as they all will be unhappy so I think she managed this the best of the characters. Some speculated that Roman was the one most self aware (and I kind of agree with that) and that he will be the one dealing with this the best. But I think as they say in this interview that he will go in to self destruct mode of alcohol and drugs. It has always bin there… for him the company kind of just hold that side back a little. Kendall will be broken. But it is all a matter of perspective. He will always have a shitload of money and he does not have his very destructive father in his life. So a looooooot of therapy could at least help him in some ways. I see this in no way as a worse ending for the sibblings than if the company would be Kendalls.

Being the eldest son is such a medieval thing to say anyway. That’s the entire point of this show. They were never the best people to take over. They just thought that it was the birthright to inherit the kingdom. It wasn’t, “I’m the best person for the job.” It was “I’m the eldest boy”, which isn’t even true, and shows his contempt for Connor, and how they don’t even really consider him a real sibling. I don't remember any show or a movie (except from some masterpieces from the 70s, 80s, 90s) in which EVERY DETAIL is so meaningful. I don't remember when was last time when people analyzed the way characters hold hands, because such a simple gestures had a meaning. Or what two, three words they spoke. Everything in this show is thought thru and so carefully put together. And all of that with almost no CGI, without any bombastic tricks - just genius writing, acting, camera work and music. Such a refreshing return to the basics in this time of sensory overload cinema and TV. One of the best show ever made!

Phil's turn from "compromise" to "no more, Butchie". Now, this is more of a wish and not a critique, but if these extra hours of Sopranos could've been allocated anywhere in the show I would've liked to see one more episode with Baccala sr, one with Richie and one with the season 5 NY civil war.

"I'm the eldest boy" as a line is fantastic. It really illuminates how emotionally stunted Kendall is by the promise made by his father. In that moment he completely regresses to being a child in a suit. It's additionally insightful in how he has fetishised over this position of power for so long, yet failed to acknowledge that he is indeed not the eldest boy. Maybe this is because he, along with the other siblings, do not qualify Conner as an heir, but for me it could easily be an oversight by Kendall. So wrapped up in the fantasy of emulating his Dad he simply never thought about it any other way than his destiny.

I think you’re misinterpreting Kendall a little. Yet, good take. Just one point I’d add. If Logan had to choose, it would’ve been Kendall. This is also what the note Logan left behind had written on it. Crossed by family. Lost the company his father built due to siblings crossing him by way of their own emotional stupidity, coupled with rival corporation greed that played into his weak sibling’s weaknesses well. It’s very deep, this show will be missed.

This is so meta! Lol! I really loved the series and the cast. Each main and side character played their part so convincingly to the point where the lines appeared to be felt in the actors' bones. This was palpable. Also, I don't think anybody else but Jeremy could have played and portrayed Ken. I'm so glad Jeremy is receiving his roses and acknowledging the quality of the scenes.

I did not know the show up to a few weeks ago, don’t watch that much tv. But we recently got a new internet provider and we had access to Succession. Wife and I loved it and watched all the episodes within a couple of months. Simply great actors, texts, decor and the music is fantastic. I usually skip the intro but never for this show. Congratulations to everyone involved in this series.

Genius actor/genius writers/directors/genius cast-all I can say is getting to be a BG Actor on the show that suddenly turned into getting a line with Jeremy…(even though they ended up not using it), having the memory of working on set with these brilliant humans was priceless to me. I grew up in a highly dysfunctional family/was the black sheep and raised without any love. I tried so hard for forever to get my family to like me or care & it never happened. I always felt isolated and alone-all my life. The ending scene with Jeremy sitting on the bench with nothing in his life that was meaningful, made me cry because I knew what it felt like to feel like a nothing…and he exuded that emotion perfectly. I so badly wanted him to have a win, but as in my own situation, it just didn’t happen. I suppose that’s why I had this ‘knowing’ of the pain you can’t explain to anyone who hasn’t experienced it. Bravo Kendall Roy, you were absolutely magnificent. (Ps. They still gave me my very 1st screen credit-thank you so much, that was my win💞)

Kendall looked towards the vast sea. A reminder of his wounds. The young boy that he killed. The news of his father’s death. The near demise of his own life in that pool. He contemplated whether he should meet his fate again, give in to the water and reap the consequences. For he had no purpose without Waystar Royco. The empire, the dream, his throne, that Logan Roy had promised him from a young boy. The waters stretched so far. The sunset glimmered on the deep blue sea, reflecting into his lost soulless eyes. It was a beautiful, memorable sight. This is the moment that would define the end. Kendall saw no other way, he prayed to end this cyclical agony. He had no plans to stitch the wounds, only to dilute them and be forgotten in the water. Kendall looked over his shoulder and discovered Colin’s concerned face. Had he figured out his plan? It would make sense, Kendall thought, for he was the only man who could truly see him. His grotesque facade, a man who escaped murder. Kendall thought of his father, the morning after the killing, his wet face pressed ever so tightly to his chest. He had never felt such warmth and comfort. He had feared and loved his father. Kendall shook his head and turned back to the sea. A teardrop slithered down his pasty cheeks. He extended his shaky legs and wobbled forwards, taking one small step at a time, looking like a lost child. The looming presence of Colin’s mighty shadow had once again reminded him of the man he had chased, worshipped and despised. That detest would never be comparable to the one he directed towards himself. His inability to live up to his father’s expectations. His life unravelled in less than a month. His purpose had died with Logan and his overthrown empire. He placed his pale hand on the railings to find balance. Kendall reflected on what would become of his legacy. He felt a tightness in his throat, the thought of it had made him emotional. The lost boy had truly no control over anything. The right leg lifted itself over the railings. Kendall Roy, no more than the spoilt son of his legendary father. The left leg struggles to meet the right. Kendall Roy, a drug addict. His hands grasped the railings behind him, the last strings from being cut loose into the abyss. Kendall Roy, a man who no longer recognised himself. He closed his eyes. The hands released and the limbs went loose. The wind rushed past his hair and the hard, flat water met his face. Kendall swallowed in the water like it was the medicine for his pain. His thoughts grew dark and drifted off to the kid trapped in the car. Such a terrifying and suffocating end. He remembered his brother Roman, a scared child that needed protecting. Shiv, his self-destructive sister, that he should have given more trust and honesty. Kendall was drowning in his failings. His vision ceased to exist. It was pitch black. Silence. Kendall had found solitude. A light at the end of the tunnel appeared. Perhaps this was a doorway, an escape. He edged closer to the gleaming prosperity, feeling the echoing of a heavy, thudding noise. He stepped through the light, meeting the frantic face of Colin. Water dribbled down from his mouth. His chest felt sore from the pounding of Colin’s fist. Kendall recalled back to the last conversation with his father. The words that still stung and haunted him, “I did my best, and whenever you fucked up, I cleaned up your shit… and I’m a bad person? Fuck off, kiddo.”

My only issue is that even if Shiv did not want Kendall, her decision single handedly destroyed her family forever. Pick someone else thats not Kendall, thats much better than to fudge it all over her emotional distain for him. I still think her decision was petty, but to be fair Kendall did Icarus himself
