Cool video and thanks for the shout out!!! 😊 I’ve now got to get myself a Lime Zinger - gorgeous! Your flowering succulents are fantastic.

Of course, glad to give you a shout out, although not sure how much traffic my little channel with drive to your channel! Yeah, as I was making this video and especially talking about portulacaria, I thought "Tom from Coffee and Bonsai with Tom should really be the one talking about ports for bonsai, not me!" So I solved it with a shout out. Yeah, I do recommend trying out a Lime Zinger, or really any sort of sedum. It is particularly great in the early spring, as I show in my thumbnail, when the new buds are pink. I really love it then. Also, I don't think I've seen many examples of hardy sedum bonsai, so I like that it's original.

I’m diggin what you are putting out, brother. There are zone 3 & 4 sedums as well that I’ve tried to grow up here in my gardens. The winter die back was fugly though. Youve given me hope to try and bonsai them.

Glad you are enjoying my videos, and I'm glad you plan to start some hardy sedum bonsai! I should try to start another one, to see if I can reproduce the result. This Lime Zinger sedum was a happy accident - I had zero idea of how it would evolve.

The title of this video made me think of that "succulent Chinese meal" video where the guy is getting arrested. I've got to admit that I'm not a fan of tropicals or succulents. I'm not a house plant fan and we get coldish winters here to about -10c (approx 14f)

Ha, my title was not meant as an allusion to a "succulent Chinese meal", but that's pretty funny. I love succulents, such a low maintenance variety of plant and neat variety, easy to propogate, and they can be bonsaied. But yeah, I go back and forth between tropicals. I have a handful of them but don't plan to get many more. Succulents on the other hand - I could see my collection of succulents grow.

Is that AI in the thumbnail? Not to be a jerk, but if it is--I would really rethink using AI for art especially, it's pretty abusive of artists!

@@nickhelms4386 I'm flattered! No AI, it is in fact a completely undoctored photo taken by me of a succulent bonsai that I created. No digital enhancement was applied - just an out-of-camera jpg from my Fuji X-T10 and Fuji 70-300 mm lens. It's a hardy sedum and the new rosettes are truly bright pink due to cold early spring temperatures. I agree that it's a striking image, hence why I used it as a thumbnail.

@@BonsaiNorthwest awesome! Thank you for clarifying. It does look great, and I think it looks so unreal that I was assuming it wasn’t! Glad to hear this though :D

@@nickhelms4386 Thanks! I really love the contrast between the pink rosettes, green moss, and blue pot in early spring.
