How cool! I love succulents, and have fun watching mine grow in an old shallow fish bowl. The pink rag you are using looks very much like the lens cleaning rags my eye doc gives out with glasses. Very absorbent. I also use the microfiber cloths that you get a 10 pack of at Walmart. I love them for my crafting. I wash them out at the sink and throw them in with my towels. If I get a stain on a towel, oh well! No one here but me and I don't care. LOL! Great painting and you always have some great tip that I need to hear!! Thanks!!

I've been getting frustrated with watercolor recently, I think my problem is a combination between not adding enough water, and not letting each layer dry. I'm using Arches & M. Graham. Practice makes perfect, you make it look so easy! I really appreciate all the pearls of wisdom you share whilst painting at the same time. I appreciate you. I really like the lamp, my eyes could you a magnifier. Great painting! My favorite flower you've painted is the cyclamen. I purchased two of them after your video, I fell in love. Hope they come back to life in the Fall.

As you started this picture idk if it was the camera pixalating or the way the light played off your hand but I was tripping out because it looked like the paper was moving while you were drawing. I haven't watched more than about the 1st 4 or 5 petals and it did stop moving as you got farther away from the center at least so far anyway. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me so i asked my 16 yr old if she saw it too and she did as well. It was trippy watching you draw on top of moving paper without any issue. Lol

Great painting, and I love that light! Definitely going on my wishlist. I love the adjustment on cool and warm light, I think that opens a lot of options for art. And the magnifier stable like that is so helpful I bet. I have a portable magnifier I wear around my neck but constantly having to find my spot again interferes with my process and creativity. I want to get one of these palettes, but being so new to water color I don't want to invest a lot until I know I will definitely paint enough to warrant the spending. I was given an old set of 12 WN Cotman tubes, so I got a tin tray and some half pans, squeezed the paint in (that is an odd process lol it dried so weird, but the paint goes on just fine) and got another dozen of half pans in pretty colors at were on sale and that I thought would be good colors to round out and make a nice starting set. I enjoyed swatching them and playing around, so if I stick with it I will get a better quality and larger set. I have some of your tutorials bookmarked to begin practice!

I have enjoyed your channel for a while now. This particular episode is just one example of the tremendous amount of info you provide. I learned a lot tonight even though, when I saw the image, my first thought was not ‘oh, I have to try that!’ Now that I’ve watched the video, I may very well give the succulent a try. Your result was really attractive. I have a question for you. Have you ever tried the Neocolor I crayons from Caran D’Ache? I bought a set by mistake but after swatching the colours, I decided to keep them. After one painting effort, I’m beginning to think I should have returned them. I can find almost no info on how to blend them or what kind of paper to use. I used the back side of a sheet of cold press watercolour and that was definitely not a good idea. I thought they were oil pastels but it turns out they are wax-based. Do you know if the two can be used together? Okay, two questions! I started with watercolours and I’m wondering if I ‘need’ the Neocolor II as well. I’d really appreciate any advice. Thanks again for all the help I’ve had, especially with watercolour, by watching your excellent channel!

Yay, a succulent and I am so happy you painted it (I think that I seconded a request for a succulent awhile back). Definitely trying this! Thanks! Lindsay,,,does it matter whether you get a white lamp or black as far as eye relief and or distraction...I want to buy the larger size lens...

I loved that; so forgiving , kind of abstract and you can kind of make it your own. Also, you can make it as simple, or complicated as you want to and it is very quick to do (for those of us kind of pressed for time, but want to paint daily). Thank you. I have gone back to School and I'm hoping to buy that lamp as a reward for when I pass my exam in August. It seems great. I too have to wear reading glasses because I'm over 40. I have one, actually the bulb just blew on it but I've had it 18 years. It's good for task lighting close work like the lamp I used today was. Go with what fits your aesthetics and brightness needs. With ether of these lights you want them close to your work and your eyes to be effective, it won't light a large area.

She's an amazing watercolorist, and I may be the only one that actually is not a fan of how this one turned out. Probably lol. I just think in the end it looked very flat. Beautiful colors but it doesn't look like a succulent to me. Succulents are very pulpy and not flat like a leaf. Just looks like beautiful leaves to me, not a succulent. And she's such an artist, not saying she isn't.
