Just wanted to thank you for answering everyone's questions in the comments! Not many creators take the time to provide curated answers for each question asked. Someone said I had root rot and I mistakenly cut off the top of my cactus and replanted the top. Turns out the bottom was healthy and grew a bunch of pups, so after watching this, I'll be getting my pups going finally.

Using Cutting propagation such as in 3:06, will the original cactus regrow its cut portion, or will it forever be scarred that way? I ask not to propagate, but because I'd like to get a blue candle cacti but keep it a small size for indoor use. I'm thinking cutting it may way, if it regrows properly. Thanks for any reply, I'm very new to the hobby so excuse my ignorance.

It literally depends on the cactus. I only have been successful with removing offshutes or cutting off very thin sections of the cactus. The thick on they cut there I have never been successful with. Always rotted

Very nice video :)) I have a question. How long does it take until the freshly planted pad grows new pads or just grows? I was given a pad a few months ago (like 3 or so). I checked and it actually developed a lot of roots, but it hasen´t changed its outer look. It´s just a single lonely pad in a pot. Does that change at some point and if it does, when does that happen? I´m so excited about it and can´t wait ;)

What happens to the 'stump' of the cactus you used for the cutting propagation? Will the cut end close up, or will it always have a flat spot?
@SucculentsBox3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for an interesting question. The stump won't close up, it'll remain the same and will callus over. However, with proper care, the stump can grow new pups from the cut point (at 3:34)! In addition, you can also have fun with grafting and create a new cactus!

I just recently re-potted my baby cactus I grew from seeds. I’m curious to know how often you recommend watering them? I’m worried I will kill them! Just spray when the top soil is dry? I try to water a little from the bottom too! Thank you :) new cactus mommy here lol

I'm laughing here because I got so distracted by your cat-petting gloves, with the rubbery dots on the palms designed for gently removing loose hair from your Kitty's coat. They even have little toe-pads on the fingertips. So cute. I would never have thought to use them for working with cacti. I had to back the video up to be sure my eyes weren't deceiving me. I really enjoyed your video. I have some questions about the Echinopsis pups I recently potted up. I have them under grow lights. Should I start with the dimmest setting and gradually increase the light intensity? How many hours per day do they want? As for watering, at this rooting stage is it best to spray them or bottom-water? How long should I expect them to grow to flowering size? Thanks for all you do.
@SucculentsBox2 жыл бұрын
hahaha I was laughing reading your comment as well. And yeah you were right that was our Kitty's coat haha so glad that you noticed the very small detail like that. As per your question about the Echinopsis, it is best to provide cacti with at least 4 to 6 hours of bright sunlight per day to encourage flowering. As you're having them under grow lights, this piece could help you so please check it out: succulentsbox.com/blogs/blog/how-to-use-grow-light-for-your-indoor-succulents As per the watering, please wait for about 5-7 days before watering as this will lessen any risk of rotting or other infections

What's the difference between an offshoot and a pad? The plant you use for the pad has the little buds, are those considered offshoots?
@SucculentsBox2 жыл бұрын
Offshoots are lateral shoots that are produced on the main stem of a plant. In the meantime, pads are the edible stems of the prickly pear plants which are usually cactus. In this video, these buds could be considered to be offshoots!
