Nice reaction. What you are saying about "happy metal" is why I love the Japanese mostly female metal / rock scene. I like metal because it feels like it has fast, positive, aggressive manic energy to me. So it just makes sense to me metal would have fun, happy, positive lyrics and stage presence, as well as some silliness. That's not to say I don't like any metal that has a really serious message, or that I don't understand the value to someone of being able to cope with some negative difficult topics through making music about it or listening to music about it to feel understood. But metal / metalcore like Nemophila, Lovebites, Hanabie, Passcode, Broken By The Scream etc marries lyrics, vocals, stage presence etc that fits so well with what I feel from metal music generally that it just ups the game for me.

#Happymetal. Yes, studio audio over live video. Ame-te-ras is the first single from the 3rd album, Evolve. Song and album released at the same time , just this past January. Also in this video, and all 3 albums, is guitarist Saki (screen right/stage left). Saki decided to leave the band within the last couple months. Nemophila is going forward as a 4 piece, with Mayu playing some guitar, and with solos being more bass and guitar, than the 2 guitars up to this point.

I love all of Nemophila’s music and couldn’t wait to travel to Japan for my fourth concert. Nemophila doesn’t perform one specific genre in their discography. However, I personally enjoy this song for the fusion of genres in a single song. Just my two cents. ❤️🌸

The overlay screaming at the end was also mayu's voice but all of the other band members do sing with not only as backup vocals but also as an alternate vocalist in couple of their songs (ref.: Hara-chan alternating in BLOOMING and Tamu in BREAKING OUT). Tamu also acted as alternate vocalist in her previous band SORAMIMI and released one single (INNOCENT, 2017) as solo artist and another collaboration single (D&D, 2018) with LADYBEARD, in which featured herself as vocalist in both released. Tamu is one of a kind drummer that not only singing while playing but she is also a multi-instrumentalist whom are known to be quite commendable with piano, xylophone, saxophone, guitars and bass... and some other traditional Japanese percussion (according to Hara-chan).

This banger written by guitarist Hazuki. Check out her other band Lisa-X Band/Koiai. They just released a couple live vidoes from their "first Japan live" concert. "A New Picture" will melt your brain at just how incredible both Hazuki and Lisa-X are not to mention they added bassist extraordinaire Wakazaemon for the show. An eclectic mix of Prog metal, Jazz fusion and contemporary rock styles. 🤘

You'll have to do a reaction to the 2 new Nemophila songs they recorded on KZbin last week but now as a 4 piece. You've done RISE already but the new version is cool plus "Back into the Wild" is neat as well. The drummer Murata tamu also put up a drum cam of "Back into the Wild" on her own YT channel.

At the time this song and video came out, Saki was also still in the band. She is the guitarist in the white tee shirt. She left the band shortly after, so now Hazuki is the only lead guitarist, and Mayu is filling in with some rhythm guitar, and Haraguchi-san is elevating her parts to incorporate some lead bass in place of some of the lead guitar parts, but they were still a full five-piece during this song.

Some call NEMOPHILA’s music Happy Metal. Yes, this is a studio recording. You left out guitarist SAKI, who is also here. This is one of only two songs (I think) that do not feature the amazing solos of their Twin-Guitar Attack. Unfortunately, she recently left the band. I usually play reaction videos, instead of the official post. I suspect many other fans do, too. I listen to the high-fidelity records on a streaming audio service. Be sure to check out their many, many amazing covers. Pick the Japanese songs you’ve never heard before, by the bands that influenced them. Songs like: like DON’T SAY LAZY, ONE NIGHT CARNIVAL, ROSIER, GOLDEN GRAFTY, I AM THE STORM, and KURENAI.

You nailed it right on the head. I have always hated American metal, as it is, like you said, generally, angry, etc. The only metal I actually enjoy are Nemophila, Lovebites, BandMaid and BabyMetal. Never knew why that was, but you said it's "Happy" metal. Now it is clear why I like Japanese female metal. BandMaid even made their "angry" song "Hate?" into Happy Metal....lol
