Any military officer would have told you to start this attack 3 months ago when the rate of artillery fire dropped off for AFU. Only now that Ukraine starts to receive help do they attempt this? I wonder what passes for a military planners & high command in russia?

Russians likely have their own logistical problems as well.
@Inkling77725 күн бұрын
I agree that the Russian military leadership is far from the world's best, but this attack may not be as foolish as you assume. Aid on the way, particularly artillery shells, is not aid on the frontlines. What Russia's leadership may not have reckoned with is that, with those shells on the way, Ukraine can use its existing stocks more aggressively. There's also a parallel here with the late-March 1918 attacks Germany launched during WWI. Knowing that large numbers of Americans would be arriving over the summer, Germany launched a now-or-never attack on the French and British. When it ground to a halt short of its objectives, Germany's loss was almost certain. We can hope that's also true in this case.

The Russian attacks reminds me of the Stalin's 10 fists during 1943-44 to keep the Germans off balance. I think that the Russian goals are to have Ukraine in a position not to be able to launch a counter attack with the aid but to rebuild their units.

@JilynnFurlet24 күн бұрын
The older usage and meaning of "wilderness" was simply any area without human settlements. But I agree with you that a tree plantation does not meet our current concept of "wilderness" at all. Leave it alone for a few hundred years and it would come close.

Grad literally means Hail (as in hailstones). I’d say it lived up to its name, having suffered an explosive rapid unscheduled disassembly - with myriad bits of it falling back to earth like hailstones. What a fail - for the Grad and crew. Bonus, their families get no war compensation as there are no bodies to prove they died in battle…..🙄
