It completely ruins the ability to sound bit it for malicious out of context purposes, but it is sudden and quick, punctuating adding to the joke, and also not ruining the readability of what was being said, and joked about at all. I understand the word could be used insultingly, and it could have been cut, and the fact it wasnt is what seperates this content from content i feel like AH's. Which is a little too... safe?
