As a descendent of a refugee from Sudan, it is always so difficult to explain to someone the conflict of Sudan. This has been the best explanation I have heard. For practically all of us, Sudan has been torn by conflict long before our birth.

No offense to anyone, but I'll never forget when I was in Sudan and the people of Darfur were being obliterated, but it seemed like many Northern Sudanese didn't really care. I remember them being referred to as slaves who they hated being around. So why are Sudanese so upset that the world is silent just like they were concerning their fellow country men? When I was there, the racism I witnessed shook me. Sudanese must become like one body, one brotherhood, one heart, one hand. One powerful nation of people and know who they're real enemy is. This is a result of the cracks that Sudanese society opened up and enemies took advantage of that.

We really didn't know it's not what we have been told i for instance only knew about genocides in Darfur in 2019 after the revolution i always thought it was a small civil conflict in media we were told Albasheer was wanted by ICJ for supporting Palestinian resistance People do hate each other but even so no northern sudanese civilian wishes for death upon any western sudan civilian (well except those who support RSF idc about them)

Not me. Through a group setting I knew Tom who was here legally in the United States but whose families and loved ones were still in Sudan. He addressed that group: You do not say anything about the Arebs there! That is how you get killed!! (Arabs up North were coming down South in a provoked civil war to kill the BLACK peoples there. That caused two Nations to emerge: Sudan and South Sudan. Oh yeah.😮😮😮

In 2024 mindsets are unfortunately conditioned to pay attention to conflicts that are between two different people/cultures/countries/etc. so we can identify with one or the other. We need to change the way we think about conflict and violence and make it unacceptable in any environment.

Point well expressed. It seems that one thing the Palestine crisis has pointed out is that the oppression, destruction , violence and killings is also happening in other parts of this World. Several speakers at the Global Day Of Action on 1/13/ 24 clearly expressed that Palestine was not the only place in the World where atrocities are currently taking place. What the Palestine/Israel crisis has done is to reveal to the Citizens of the World that "bully despots" like Netanyahu are not good/great leaders but are extremely self serving and that the atrocities that they create and commit need to be acknowledged and the oppressors held accountable. Far too long there have been too many silent voices. We need the Journalistic Community to be our eyes and ears so we can do our part in Changing our own Mindsets and the Mindsets of our Leaders.

I do not believe it is the other wars, or not as much. I do not have the right words either. But I think it is kind of a numbness in respects to fighting, genocide, dictators, or tribal wars in Sub-Saharan Africa in general, and more specifically in Sudan itself. Money sent is mostly taken by corruption, any aid is controlled, outside people trying to bring items, medical care, security, themselves have been victims in the past. It certainly is not that the world does not care. Quite the opposite. Our response is more like a deer caught in headlights by not knowing of something different that might work this time.

I think that for the general public, there's a feeling of hopelessness. I for instance was rooting for the sudanese finally ousting al Bashir, and hoping that people would have more power finally. Now they are stuck between a corrupt and criminal military government, and the RSF that are actually worse. And the rest of the world can only watch while hundreds are killed, displaced, and abused.
