Thanks for the upload, great video. I was one of the early ones to ask him for his advice on different fountain pens and he was kind enough to guide me through plus fix a few pens. They turned out exactly as he mentioned, truly a pleasure to write with. Wish you all the best and many thanks for our kindness as always.

9:25 Such a genuine advice! At one point of time, probably after getting obsessed with the greatness of fountain pens, I used to go for expensive pens quite a lot. But my very little experience of around 6-7 months has taught me that even a very cheap Camlin Eligante/ Kanwrite Desire 35/ Click Aristocrat works better for me compared to Lamy Safari, Kanwrite emperor or Pilot Kakuno. I obviously love Metropolitan, but it's a bit on the heavier side compared to the aforementioned plastic body pens. My best pick is Pilot Eligante with a 5 no. Kanwrite fine nib. I use this on a daily basis. I don't want to give suggestions to anyone, neither am I in such a position. Just sharing my experience with these gems... But as I need to write rigorously everyday, I can only say that fountain pens are the go-to machines for a person like me. The experience a fountain pen provides is beyond any explanation... I will continue my hobby of using and experiencing more and more fountain pens for the rest of my life. 💖

It is a splendid interaction. Even a person like me who doesn't have a proper likings towards FP will be able to gather a lot of information. Also do feel newcomers especially for the teen agers ,though limited, will be able to grow properly with their hobbies in a much guided way. Regarding the non availability of the ink or pen under a much systematic supply chain management through distribution or retail chains, I feel the school and colleges should come with the old idea of using FP from the begining of the careers of our sibblings. Any a product cannot move forward based on the loving or affection towards the same, rather always there will be a thin base of mass available towards such passion and commercially as such it cannot be made viable. Thanks once again to Sudhirji for his beautiful effort in turning me like a numb in this field feeling attracted somehow.

I also appreciate his comments on how Indian pen makers have not given as much love to nibs compared with the artistry of the pen bodies. This seems like a way to grow if Indian pens want to have more impact on the international market. To be honest most are also quite large. I am still quite new at appreciating Indian FPs though. Yes, online sales also will make a difference … although one should also preserve the art and craft of the Indian pen masters.

I enjoyed listening to the levels of fountain pen enlightenment. And yes maybe we are a bit introverted and OCD. Japanese have a term for that = Otaku (enthusiasts).

Great talk, a few observations: 1. Have a Gamma, 2ASAs and 2 Guiders all new and all having stock nibs only. Have written with 3 of them. All write great. No issues with the Nib. 2. However, the nibs are very different i.e the wetness and feel on paper is different. 2. Rajamundry (think) is home to 3 hand turned pens - Ratnam, Guider and Prasad. They warrent a seperate video show or two in themselves. 3. Nice to know on Pen tuning. Appears it's more art than science. 4. Issue with Indian Fountain pens is very little awareness. Even well established brands like KanWrite, Beena, Gamma, Ratnam etc have little visibility on media. 5. Thank you for the heads up caution on Parker Quink. Will stick to Bril. Yet to check on Sulekha with local (Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu) retailers. "Googleacharyan" shows up 3. Hope the prices are not as expensive as in their website. Very nice video. Thank you. A splendid interview but one thing a major player is being missed out in each and every interviews is Camlin. Camlin has the potential to turn around the market towards fountain pens in massive scale, they have brilliant distribution, production capabilities, their innovation has been known to all, from Premier to SD, designs that "inspired " pens that are still in production in many other companies that to at 5 times the original pen costed. Well reputed peoples associated with this hobby should approach Camlin to inspire them come back and innovate again and manufacture pens that attract and are accessible by common students of India. Timeless models like Camlin 22 ,11,18,47, Trinity, Elegante, SD these pens are way affordable than that current Indian fountain pen manufacturers produce! Camlin has the potential to bring a revolution in the Indian market about fountain pens. Inked Happiness when promoting and helping Sulekha to revive in the market again should also inspire Camlin to make a come back! Camlin's strength of manufacturing can't be ignored! Its a request to Inked happiness especially Chawam da to consider this. If Camlin makes a comeback whole market scenario for fountain would change drastically in India. In my opinion if you like a gel/roller ball pen why not use a fountain pen?

Sorry so many comments but as a former journalism student, might I suggest a few more specific questions for your interview subjects. For example, I might ask a nibmeister how many people get such services and what kinds of grinds are popular and what nibs he likes to work with… or where do people get grinding done? Are there some nibmeisters whom he would suggest? Things like that. Thanks and keep it up.

Please delete this comment, but I just wanted to offer 2 technical suggestions as a fan of your interviews. 1) you might consider getting 2 lapel mics so you can better hear both of you and not the background sounds of the dinner plates (they made me hungry) 😀 2). It would be nice if you could make episode notes with the names of brands or terms. Unfortunately you seem to laugh with the speaker when he mentions certain names that might be well known in India, but might be new to international future enthusiasts. Thank you again for sharing these as I am enjoying learning from your Ink Happiness interviews.

Sudhir Kalyanikar was a wonderful person to listen to . A very humble , down to earth person, his advice that hobbies should be taken up only for the sheer enjoyment of it ,and should never take over your life, is so true. But the interviewer butting in every now and then with her inane remarks and excessive head tossing was a bit too much.
