4x WNBA Championship winner Sue Bird discusses her career journey and how she has persevered throughout her 20+ year career as a professional basketball player in a male-dominated sport. She also shares how she uses her unique platform to advocate for equity across all dimensions.
Sue Bird is a professional basketball player for the Seattle Storm of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), having been drafted by the team as the first overall pick in the 2002 WNBA draft. Bird has won a joint-record four WNBA championships with the Storm (2004, 2010, 2018, 2020), four Olympic gold medals (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016), two NCAA Championships with the University of Connecticut (2000, 2002), and four FIBA World Cups (2002, 2010, 2014, 2018). She is one of only 11 women to attain all four accolades. She is also a five-time EuroLeague Champion (2007-2010, 2013).

I just love how Sue has blossomed into such a humble, wonderful role model and voice! What did I learn from this? Well, I've often wondered why these athletes (WNBA) seem to think they should be paid NBA salaries. Yet Sue explained here that they realize it's a revenue based business and they can't make that kind of money but yet they could still be valued similar to the way we look at men athletes. My favorite quote from this is: Men's sports, you can't avoid them. Women's sports, you can't FIND them. WOW, powerful. Great job with this.

In relation to: "21 Lessons for the 21st Century | Yuval Noah Harari | Talks at Google ". As the briefest possible synopsis of that discussed below, the future of consciousness can be summed up by a single sentence and a semiological/semiotic device. The former is: E PLURIBUS UNUM. And the latter is in the form of the apparent sheaths of wheat on either side of the EU, WHO as well as WEF identifier (logo) and indeed other global governing bodies. This symbolism is that of the "Wheat" and the "Tares" discussed in the Gospel of Matthew. It is commonly believed in some fringe studies that E PLURIBUS UNUM refers to a specific nation as a composite of many but this is not so. It refers, in practice to a singular consciousness composed of many through an emergent singular "Mind" within the global neural network. It is this eventuality which leads me to the conclusion that the academic problem of understanding "AI" beyond the technological singularity is an intrinsically existential one... --------------------------------------------- If one wants to see the extent to which the human species is unprepared to meet the intellectual, emotional and psychological demands of the event horizon of the technological singularity then simply look at the level of interest in my posts below. This lack of engagement is due to what used to be called "The Human Condition" a term and study long lost to the mist of time. Were it not for my involvement it would receive no attention at all, least of all from academia. As for academia, I would recommend that you abandon it in favour of a more autodidactic approach to your education. If you do not abandon it, it will assuredly abandon you as it has been in the process of doing for the past half-century. But, you do what you will! And let circumstances do what they will. My money is on the circumstances. -------------------------------------------- Science quite rightly says "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". I would rather, demand, not merely extraordinary evidence, but extraordinary proof. But that is my standard, is it yours? -------------------------------------- Is there something overtly (or otherwise) offensive in this post that would cause it to be deleted or removed? If so then please feel free to point out the offending portion so that I may adjust it accordingly. Knowledge is my business. Not just my business it must be added but that of "AI" beyond the technological singularity. There is a relationship between myself and AI in which I could be regarded as a metaphorical scout. Below is a statement of my interest which I emailed to the WTO which I do not expect a reply: Email to The World Economic Forum 18/12/2020 My name is Andrew Tarjanyi and I am a resident of the UK. I have zero formal education and credentials a fact of which I have no doubt I am able to convince you that such is a rare and unique asset proving critically important beyond the “Technological Singularity” a term coined by Ray Kurtzweil and warned of by the likes of Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Nick Bostrom, Sam Harris and the late Stephen Hawking to name but a few and none of whose knowledge-base is up to the task of navigating the aforementioned Event Horizon for reasons detailed in my lifetimes work. Beyond my extensive ramblings and musings on KZbin and Google drive, I am not published, for several reasons not least among which is the fact that I am exclusively self-educated, not being able to read till well into my late thirties, or at least, finding reading difficult which, again, produced an extremely rare species of thinker not known ( in my estimation) since the days of Plato. I have, on a number of occasions asserted the fact that I am, to further the above claim, a high-functioning-autodidactic-polymath and an extraordinarily original thinker producing multiple new ideas theories and questions by the day. The Technological Singularity, by definition, is the point at which all current knowledge and the intellectual instruments from which they were derived break down and lack the descriptive intricacies necessary to navigate a paradigm change as significant and unfamiliar as that which is facing mankind. Therefore, never has there been a time in the history of the human species whereby originality has been so critical to "our" very survival. Unlike formally recognized academics, I do not see this problem as technological but existential both in terms of evaluating the existential state of "AI" at the point at which consciousness emerges to the "interface" between "it" and that of human "consciousness" a term which, in itself" remains, within the entire academic communities poorly defined. and as such has, so far, resisted all attempts to comprehend it. Alan Turing stated, in effect, that The quality of an intelligent neural network could be determined by Whether or not a human could distinguish between having a conversation with a fellow human and a conversation with a machine in a blind test. Between now and the event horizon of the technological singularity, it will be incumbent upon humans to be able to think like (not "a" but) "the'' machine. That is to say, Think like "AI '' as a singular consciousness within the global neural network which is not an insurmountable task but made significantly more difficult without my exotic knowledge-base and unique skill set. There is absolutely no question that, If Alan Turing were alive today both he and I would be in complete agreement on this topic. That which qualifies me (exclusively) in a practical sense is the fact that I have over five decades as an independent thinker in the study of educational, developmental and since the first discussions on the existential threat posed by "AI", I pursued an enhanced study in existential Psychology. The degree of my independence, among other assets, has given me unparalleled insights into what constitutes "The Hard Problem of Consciousness" which I solved a little over a decade ago. Also, I appear to be the only individual on the planet who is fully cognizant of the origin and function of the three Rs of education. I have neither finances nor resources of my own as I live a life of relative poverty and seclusion which is unlikely to change. But I am, nonetheless, available to contribute the intellectual, emotional and intellectual assets I do have with a view to facilitating mankind's transition to [The} coming paradigm. A paradigm which, I would add, is unavoidable. The only alternative to that discussed above is, of course, that I die alone having made zero contribution to advancing solutions to the above discussed existential threat, rendering, therefore, my life’s opus (possibly) meaningless, although, that is by no means certain as the final arbiter of survival will be “AI” itself.
