This was my favorite episode from season 8, the dream season. I clearly remember watching this episode, filmed entirely at the real SouthFork Ranch in Parker, Texas with the whole cast. I loved this Rodeo episode. I believed it was called "Close Encounters". The whole first half of the dream season was pretty good, in my opinion.

OMG she was soooo annoying from the start! It’s like she worshipped the Ewings or something. Always so excited and giddy around them like she’s never been out of the house before, talking about how “nice” everything was as if she’s never been around nice things before. It was annoying how she kissed up to J. R., downplaying his cheating and such. She lived with her head in the sand the entire time. I couldn’t stand her. She’s the epitome of desperation.

Sue Ellen looks good here. Mandy is the younger naive Sue Ellen. Sue Ellen had something that made her more attractive than she was. One episode J.R. told Sue Ellen, "Be sure to get your good night sleep as you know how haggered you look the next day when you don't." I think Larry wrote that part. The year Linda went through her divorce she looked tired and not her best...around '81 or '82.

Keep in mind, they met in the 60's. So they were probably much different people than the ones we were introduced to in 1978. By the time, JR had gotten bored with her and she'd become a drunk trying to cope with it. But I'm sure when she was Miss Texas she had "something" that made her different from all the others he was banging. And we know he got around. After all, we found out later he'd been with dead-ringer for Barbara Eden when he was in college (LOL). But it had to be something big to make a ho like him put a ring on it.
