There's a bunch of flaws/loopholes in the design, for instance, what would happen if at the time of the anomaly someone was standing/sitting on a platform that wouldn't be classified as the floor, secondly, can the people who notice early not leverage themselves unto a platform, such as a table or anything to grab onto, to prevent themselves from falling further and delaying the inevitable. Thirdly, depending on the material the floor is made out of, family members in an act of desperation and survival can simply shovel, break, Crack, and/or dig around the floor material where the head of their family/friends are, thus allowing them to breathe without the blockage of the ground itself
