Good shooting mate, you must of been delighted with the bonus geese, well done....

Thanks John. Yes, they were a real bonus and ate well in the game sausages. Cheers.

Some of these birds are about 10ft off the end of the barrel! So unsporting.

Nick, there are no shots that are '10ft off the end of the barrel', so lets not exaggerate! As much as I would love every shot I take to be at longer range (but still within my abilities), the fact is that on these shoot days we all have to take shots that are not 'high birds', because otherwise we would get very few shots, and not have any game to eat or give away afterwards!

Great shooting mate! The other goose came back for more aswell!

Thanks Olly. I didn't make the most of some really good chances, but I still appreciate every outing I get. It's certainly the first time a pair of geese have crossed my path on a driven shoot...especially as it was from nowhere near the area being driven! Cheers.

SuffolkFarmLife well that's right! As long as you have some days out whether it be a 20 bird walk up or a 200 bird day, they should all be enjoyable!

Cant believe the goose swung round for another pass! Dogs struggled a bit!

There was a flag out wide at the top of the line, which helped turn it (along with me having dropped the other one it was flying with). Yeah they were big birds, so the Springer did well to get it back eventually.

To my understanding, the idea of not shooting Geese with Lead shot, is the risk of it showering into water, where other water birds may pick it up and ingest it. Surely when shooting Geese over farm land, Lead shot is entirely appropriate?
@SuffolkFarmLife7 жыл бұрын
You raise a good point Ken. But legally, it does not matter where a goose is located when it is shot, as it is illegal to shoot them with lead in England (The rest of the UK may have similar rules). I suppose the thought is that if a wounded bird has lead shot in its body, and makes it back to some water. Then when it dies and breaks down, the lead would end up in the water. (The lead ban in England covers all ducks and geese, coots and moorhen.)

Thank you for the explanation, I understand now.

Thanks John. Bit behind the second, but I don't get any practise on shooting geese.

Very poor. Some easy misses, some very low birds taken, some very unsporting birds (Geese to name a couple - and shot with lead no doubt, as you didn’t change ammo prior) and stealing your neighbours birds. Be ashamed.

Wow, the fun police are out! 1) Yes, unfortunately I do miss sometimes - i'm sorry that offends you. I'm sure everybody else you watch shooting, and maybe even yourself have never missed!? 2) This is not a 'high bird' shoot, there is a limit to how high they fly in this area of the country. 3) With an edited video that has obvious gaps between clips, how can you tell what I have loaded into my gun - another skill you have over everybody else! 4) My neighbours are friends of mine, and we are quite happy to share birds. Having just watched your own 'Filmed on a Potato' shooting video, it looks like you need to take your own advice on 'low birds'. The last bird is 'walked-up' height, not for a driven day. But I'm not going to go onto your channel and leave stupid comments, as I'll leave that sort of thing to professionals like yourself.
