Just to clarify, K-pop is the name for the industry, not the music style. BTS, as you can see, do a lot of music genres (hip hop, rap, trap, pop, ballads, rock, r&b, etc) and we say they are their genre. They started as a hip hop group but their discography now is so varied.

To summarize: He plays two roles in this MV-the king represents suga’s dark side. The peasant represents his good side (where he started from-humble,poor). As he becomes rich and famous, he struggles between staying humble/good and arrogant/evil. In the end the good side wins! He shoots his evil side thereby killing off the temptation of evil. Most rich and famous people wouldn’t be able to fight off those temptations especially when they’re young and beautiful. Ergo, child actors, children of the super rich, poor starving artists that suddenly hit it big. Props to him and BTS for keeping it real and staying humble and rooted!

AgustD is known as the “hands of Midas” for good a producer he is. His personal work can be soft or incredibly hard/intense like these 3. He’s one of the 3 pillars of BTS, the rapline (RM leader and lyrical genius who has written more songs than almost any idol, Jhope the dance leader who sets the standards for stage presence and intense rapping and song producer himself, and then Suga who RM says “pushes the team from behind to aim higher for more”). He is a force musically. And he is the one who the whole fandom seems to want to marry as he has highly domestic and skilled around the house. Even the members joke on stage “Yoongi marry me!” 😂 you are a treasure loved this. 💜💜💜

Not just domestic, Yoongi is highly nurturing in a quiet way. He pays attention and listens, notices things and looks out for his brother’s feelings and best interests. He sends them private loving messages of encouragement they might mention later. He is also instinctively protective, pulling younger members behind him when something seems threatening in public and so forth. He just has the instincts of a loving and nurturing protector even though he struggles to show affection in an open way.

He’s incredible and an insanely talented producer but he’s not one of the main producers of BTS music … he has done the most out of the group when it comes to production… but definitely not really anywhere close to a main producer for BTS music… but it was bc he was working on his mixtapes and also like the only one who was actually actively writing and producing for other artists at the same time. Yoongi is a genius…. A true master with lyrics and production … but official credits he has been listed as a producer about 10 or so times from debut to mots …. Mostly his solo songs but there were a few group songs he produced. He wrote an insane amount of songs.. but he’s not a main producer on BTS discography .

Congratulations! You just met our Savage king! Agust D is the alter ego of Suga of BTS. This persona is a force of nature. He is one third of the rap line, and he is known for his honest and raw lyrics. He and RM were both underground rappers when they were recruited and faced a lot of hate from the rapping community, they were called girls because of the make up they wore for the stage and that they were fake and could not rap. Agust D was created at this time and lashed out and put the haters in their place, calling them out and slicing them open with his rap, flow, cadence, everything! His lyrics are always the ones to hit hardest. RM also brought out songs which called out the haters, I'm very excited for you to meet him and J Hope too. Part of the reason they were attacked, besides idol groups largely *NOT* having any serious rappers in them previous to BTS, is that Suga and RM were so good as literal children in the underground scene that at 14 years old grown ass men were afraid to rap battle them. So being able to attack them for “selling out” and whatever other bs they said to them for forming an idol group was payback for their bruised egos for being absolutely demolished in their chosen art by these literal children. Just bitter, weak minded small people.

Yoongi was a rapper and producer before becomig an idol, that wasn't his intention back then (being an idol), he just wanted to do music, that's the difference with him and the rest of idols who are rappers because their company give them this role, he talks about real stuff, mental health, struggles with fame and money, dreams, and so much more, he doesn't holds back when he is agust d, he is being himself all the way, when he is in bts he is part of a group, the same with every other member, that's also why they wanted to persue their solo careers, bc they are artist who want to grow and experiment, find their sound and do their music they want, for the bts members, the team always is going to be first but their solo career is very important to them, not bc of fame and money, just bc they want to become a better versions of themselves and that's includes their most important part of their lifes, which is music. I'm slightly offended. BTS pays homage to a long list of American rappers who've influenced them (Hip Hop Lover). My guess is you didn't like the song with J Cole. That's fine, but please understand that rap began in America. K-pop as a whole has borrowed heavily from the African American communities. Without us, there is no them. SUGA goes by Agust D for his solo music (ones that are NOT on the BTS albums). Agust D = Suga backwards plus DT backwards, which stands for Daegu Town, where he was born. His debut song was Agust D and Give It To Me was the follow-up. Yes, the 3 rappers are all astounding, especially live on stage!!!! Suga/Agust D has two solo mixtapes, and is coming out with a new album in a couple weeks, so I'd recommend listening to all 3!! The last song you listened to is Daechwita -- that word means the Korean traditional music that is played when the King comes by. And we all know that Suga is a King!!! BTW, he found out 2 days before shooting the video that he had to do the sword dance....he learned it in 2 days, and it's a traditional dance that people study to master for months and years. Daechwita is a song about Suga battling the 2 sides of himself -- the arrogant, famous, mad "King" and the humble, "poor" peasant who is down to Earth. He "kills" his arrogant, harmful side to stay true to his roots/true self.

Fun fact about Daechwita - the guy he bumped into in the street and you paused was JIN with a fake beard, and if you keep watching the other guy with JIN is JUNGKOOK. They did a cameo appearance at Suga's request. It's pretty good to have those two picking a fight because on stage and behind the scenes they are two that are always bickering and poking at each other, etc. etc. (but they get along super well!). The guy that seemed like he was going to chop his head off was a different man than Jin. Anyway, you may want to watch/react to the Behind the Scenes for this one as it's fun! Also, thank you for doing the first two because, honestly, I've only seen little bits of either of those and not the entire MVs. I only found BTS in May 2021 and, although I have seen and heard a lot, I still have a lot I haven't seen or listened to. Thanks for that. Suga/AgustD is known for being a bit savage, and also was one of the fastest rappers with his "tongue technology." I think we'll see a more mature Suga/AgustD for his new release, and we've actually seen him sing on a livestream while playing guitar not long ago. So, really, we won't know for sure what we're going to get, until we get it. lol His new album is called D-Day. I can't wait! He has a song called SeeSaw that he performed solo Live; I'd love a reaction to that one too. It's different than these.

Suga loves movies, in general, and action movies, in particular. For Daechwita, he made it exactly like the type of movie he loves to watch. The scene where he's walking through the street with the vendors reminds me so much of Rocky running through the streets of Philadelphia. AGUST D says the name and the " W" is silent . also....just a little tidbit......if I remember correctly when this MV dropped.....I BELIEVE.....there was a little research done and it was stated that Min Yoongi a.k.a. Yoongis rap role model in his earliest years was actually Eminem lol his first cd he bought bc first concert he went to was Eminem lol em is an insane lyricist… he plays with different voices, cadences, noises and screams … and you can fully feel his influence in you his early stuff. I mean even in “the last” the whole vibe and lyrics is just like “lose yourself” even down to talking about staring at himself in the mirror before having to go on stage and feeling anxiety…. Ya know 8 mile. I love yoongi… he’s my bias wrecker… his lyricism and artistry just are things I mess with. My bias are Yoongi (suga/agustd), Hoseok (jhope) and Jin! Yoongi's songs are SO GOOD, his lyrics are so raw and carries so many emotions... His mixtapes Agust D and D-2 are truly good, his singles with IU and Juicewrld and Halsey are top tier! And so happy that tonight he will release a new song with IU, their voices are good together! my fav songs by him are First Love (from BTS' album WINGS he tells about his first love, the piano), People (with RM SOOO GOOD) and What Do You Think ps. YESSSS! Ok so now that you’ve seen savage intense talking-his-shit rapper yoongi, I’ll give some recommendations for you to see some other sides of him~ His upcoming single is People pt. 2 feat. IU so it might be nice to get familiar with the songs People (from August D mixtape D-2) and Eight (by IU prod and feat Suga)! They’re some of my favorite songs ever tbh His solo songs on BTS albums (as Suga) are Intro: Nevermind, First Love, Seesaw, and Interlude: Shadow. All have live performances and Shadow has an MV. Can’t go wrong with any of them but I say start with nevermind and seesaw live. I think you’d love to watch Seesaw since it’s sooooo different from what you’ve seen of him so far! I seem to remember him saying he wanted to surprise and confuse us by doing something more “like an idol” for it Since you’ve already done Jimin, he was recently on a talk show Suga hosts on KZbin called Suchwita. I think the episode would be a really great way to see a bit more of both of their personalities! Yoongi and Jimin’s love language is bickering. It’s hysterical 😂 (Alternatively if you want to go full meta and since you’ve already met Jungkook too, he went live from his living room at like 2am and watched the episode with ARMY. someone uploaded a “Jungkook watching Suchwita with Jimin (Eng subs)” video to KZbin lol) Also re: your statement about him not being an idol but being an artist, that’s something BTS has talked about a lot/struggled with (especially RM) and their response comes in the form of the absolute banger of a group song called Idol

Welcome to the BTS world. Glad you met Agust D before he leaves us. Yoongi (Suga) said after his D-Day album, his Agust D moniker will probably go away. He's no longer angry like he was when he was younger so no longer has a need to express himself through Agust D. D-Day will be a completely different album than his two mixtapes (Agust D & D-2). I can't wait to hear it...and to attend his concerts. You came at a good time. You can see the evolution of all the members real time. Their chapter 2 has been absolutely amazing. Check out their current solo work - RM's Indigo, JHope's Jack in the Box plus his collab with J. Daechwita is a traditional Korean march, played for political events in the time of kings, in the presence of king or army, etc. The two characters are Suga Rei and Sugar from the lower class. Ruler Suga is a tyrant who kills people who have grievances or are considered opponents. Suga from the lower class, at 06:44 minutes, appears with six friends (BTS mention) and there is also a woman sitting in the tent, who hands him the car keys (Army mention). Poor Sugar starts the revolution by going with the car to face the tyrant Suga. He, along with his 6 friends, show a poster with a drawing of Bang Si-hyuk, ('creator' of BTS), at the moment when poor Suga arrives by car to face the tyrant king. He challenges the system. King Suga arrests and sentences poor Suga to death. And he, bound and kneeling, continues chanting Daechwita (Who is the true king? The tyrant or poor Suga?). The people who were prostrate in the courtyard now agree with poor Suga, all nodding to the sound of Daechwita. Finally, the executioner who was supposed to kill poor Suga also joins the revolt, frees him and gives him a weapon, with which he kills the tyrant king. Metaphor: the lower class 'taking down the system', mentions BTS that started as a small group, discriminated against, from a small bankrupt company, which was despised and disdained, but which ended up becoming the biggest Korean group in kpop, true kings about the game. At the time of the dynasties there was a strong separation between social classes and slaves were considered nothing. The poor would never become part of the elite. Today BTS is the elite, but it was a difficult achievement, with a lot of 'blood, sweat and tears'. And who gave them the 'key' to start the revolution was the Army. BTS 'overturned' the Korean music industry's dominant system, as they continue to do until now, breaking down the arrogance and prejudice of the world music industry.

Within BTS albums yes their are solo's vocal solo's and rap solo's, there's sub unit's like vocal line only and the Rap line for the rap line you have the Cyphers 1-4 oh and sometime you have one of the vocalists joining the rap line to rap eg Jungkook. Of course you also have BTS as a whole rapping and singing in the same song on the albums. They are a team but they also break down into sub groups and solo stuff. You never know what genre they've going to use next or mix of genre and the lyric's are deep, meaningful and touch on subjects that are not common subjects to sing/rap about in South Korea.
