It's a BS excuse. They could have easily changed the name if they were committed to releasing the product. I can barely tell you any of the names of Integrity Toys dolls, but they all have one!

It’s an interesting point you bring up about the effort put into a video in. I noticed when you changed your style, and you started showing your face and doing less editing, etc. I think it works because at the end of the day, what many of us value is hearing a person talk about their doll journey and their collection. Most of us don’t have many people near us who are involved in the hobby, so our link to the community is virtual. That’s all that matters, is being able to engage with other collectors. ❤️

The "seam" on the front of the trousers is probably just meant to be a crease. Creased trousers are a very sharp look. The crease is created when ironing.

Princess and the Pauper is still my all time favorite Barbie movie. Your use of the older doll for Sugar’s Daddy was a great move. You might be able to separate Esme’s blouse and skirt by unpicking the stitching to separate the two pieces.

Love your altered Sugar Daddy! Much better! I've also been disappointed with some Mattel dolls. They have the face sculpts, but don't use them as creatively as they could. I was looking forward to the Jane Goodall doll, but the result looked like a teen Skipper. They could've used the Heart Family Grandma face sculpt with blonde hair & the right face paint. She would've at least looked 30. Personally I wanted an even older-looking doll, but I guess Mattel thought it wouldn't sell as well. ☹️

Happy family grandpa is a grail doll for me. If Mattel had reused his face I would have gladly put my money done for Sugar’s daddy. Also, I would love to see your repaint of Sugar!

Great Choice and you were correct, he is the Happy Family Grandfather. The painted hair one is Heart Family. This was awesome. I also agree they should have brought the Silkstone Ken face mold for this doll!

Jacob's sculpt was originally used for Barbie Basics Ken series 2 number 17... Dubbed "new basic" 2009/10. They pretty much came out the same time....some call the sculpt jacob..but it was sculpted for Bill Greening for the barbie basics line..it was also used for the Texas A&M Ken doll in 2013 and recently with the 2021 AA power pair ken...such a great sculpt

Its so true with the movie dolls feeling rushed. Every little detail, even the way they are packaged seems so rushed. Great example is Gingham Barbie could've been packaged to wave hello, like in the movie. Maybe that's me just picking at any little thing, but I went ahead and repackaged mine to look likes shes waving hello from inside the box..😆

I spent the $ for this “fashion pack” for my silkstone Ken. I wish they made him a silkstone as I always loved his look, but he wouldn’t look like the actor so maybe that’s why they did it that way. I always was miffed about them not releasing it initially. “Parents” only really get upset about collector dolls when news channels/talk shows have a slow day, collector dolls are an easy thing to talk about and not provide the context that they are for adult collectors and not in stores. The original Tokidoki Barbie I remember also getting a similar treatment. The issue is that SD Ken was pre-release from what I remember when the “story” happened. Every time the news stories make it seem like it will “be in target” next to the princess barbie etc. 🙄 literally each one of these stories had the same beats. Whatever. The release of SD Ken prompted me to finally buy Palm Beach Honey. 🤣

I steam-pressed my Sugar's Daddy's coat and pants. They fit and look much sharper now, IMO. Now I'm waiting for my "Grandpa" Ken to arrive.

No idea what McKay's is (I'm in NYC) but any store that has inexpensive Happy Family dolls for sale is a place I'd like to visit. I have Sugar's Daddy Ken, but would redress with your doll's sculpt in a heartbeat. Looks great! And I bought the Edward & Jacob Twilight dolls years ago when they were on clearance, because the clothes were fantastic quality compared to modern Mattel...😏

I was outraged back in the day when he was cancelled... unfortunately the clothes won't fit a Silkstone, but given that you slayed with your model choice, he definitely has the essence of Robert Best's original intention. The horrid face sculpt they used certainly does not!

You made a great choice with the Sugar-daddy switch . their doll looks like he's 20. I bought a Spring Blossom Black Barbie from Avon's 1995 collection and i'm putting her with the 1984 Vacation Sensation giftset which came with luggage and 3 outfits, But only came with white dolls that might actually be the Day To Night doll. my collection is integrated with every nationality available represented .
