Okay, Instructions: #8 "Will last for a couple of weeks in the fridge". I believe you, but I'll never know for sure 😆This is seriously great! I made a bunch of recipes for weekly meal prep and I had this chilling in the fridge while the Ginger Snap Molasses cookies were cooling on the counter and the Classic Vegan Cheesecake was firming up in the freezer. Y'all see where I'm going here... It was also very good drizzled over the Cheesecake. Thank you Jill. This is really really good!

Your classic "cheesecake" can easily be transformed into a lemon "cheesecake". For Christmas, I intend to try out that idea. I'll double the lemon curd recipe. Half of that will be the topping and the other half will be folded into the filling.

I’ve been meaning to make this for several months. Finally got to today and it’s DELICIOUS! Seems all of your recipes I’ve made are really fantastic, gonna have to buy your recipe book. Btw, I mixed a couple of tablespoons of this with a half cup of Fromage cashew yogurt and it made a really delicious and creamy lemon yogurt. With a tiny bit of heating and topped with a dollop of coconut whipped cream it would make a divine warm pudding too.

I'm not going vegan anytime soon, and I love the crap out of lemon curd. Problem is when you use egg yolks, it eventually has that nasty sulfur-ish smell from the eggs and it reduces shelf life. Weird gross egg taste.. Tried this recipe with blended Apricots instead of dates and a bit of Stevia. Came out DAMN good!

OrangeTabbyCat, why not just use sugar then? Or better yet, go totally sugar free. I have a hard time figuring out how eating meat and dairy makes things better for you...
@OrangeTabbyCat
@OrangeTabbyCat 4 жыл бұрын
Carine Campier oh I forgot, i am diabetic too (though living without meds, just eating the right food and hiking a lot) and I am lactose intolerant. Not eating a lot of meat, but low fat hard cheeses and lots and lots of veggies. I try eating low carb and low fat but it's very time consuming and I don't always have the time.
@carinecampier
@carinecampier 4 жыл бұрын
OrangeTabbyCat if you read dr Neal Barnard’s work, you’ll see that the key to healing diabetes is not avoiding sugar, it’s avoiding fats - animal or plant based, and avoiding fat means switching to a plant based diet, because event the leanest of meats and dairy products contain fat. Dr Michael Greger and dr John McDougall come to the same conclusion in their books (you don’t need to buy the books though, you can consult their websites). So again, I cannot see how eating meat and dairy can benefit you. Be they “low fat” (I am using inverted commas because you must know low doesn’t mean no, dr Esselstyn has said a lot about how low fat foods are actually selling a lie). Eating a whole food plant based diet doesn’t have to be time consuming. Instead of cutting chicken breasts you cut beetroots, instead of frying fish sticks you steam broccolis, you spend 6 hours in the kitchen making kimchi once and you have a side dish ready for a whole year. Really. It’s a matter of choice ... and motivation.
@davidthescottishvegan
@davidthescottishvegan 4 жыл бұрын
@@carinecampier Not all fats are bad for you. It's saturated fat that is bad for you in excess so avoiding all animal based foods is a great idea. Plant foods that contain high levels of saturated fat such as coconut oil, palm oil should be avoided if on a high carb, low fat diet so when I see recipes with coconut oil in them I don't make them or substitute the coconut oil.

I add kala namak to most things that are usually made with eggs, e.g. in my pancakes and it is just sooooo good. Sometimes I don’t think of the egg flavor as something positive though (as some versions of pasta carbonara, where it really tasted too much egg yolk, esp. versions made with milk or cream to be very rich - yuck), then I leave it out. And I just LOVE using flax «eggs» and also besan flour «eggs», depending on what I’m making. Today I tried something new, I made pancakes with half besan, half whole wheat flour and added carrot powder and kala namak. It wasn’t all successful, BUT, what really surprised me, was the wet and creamy texture it got, so egg-like. Just like wet, creamy scrambled eggs, which i for sure did not expect! It may just be something to experiment more with... I guess I have to make more carrot powder soon, ai just loooove powders! ☺️

At 0:39 are the Rolled Oats...quick oats, whole, steel cut, ETC... which kind do we use please and thank you 😊 in advance for answering this question.
@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow
@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow 3 жыл бұрын
They are actually rolled oats. It is the whole oat steamed and rolled flat which is why they are called rolled oats

I love this idea! I have been experimenting with making oat milk, but it always comes out slimy. You don’t seem to have that problem in this recipe. Do you know the secret to avoiding slimy oat milk?
@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow
@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow 4 жыл бұрын
If I mix it for more than 1 minute it seems to be slimier but honestly it still does sometimes. Maybe it is the different brands of oats and how they are processed.

How long did you stir it on the stove pot? That's when the thickening happens.

It doesn’t work the same with commercial oat milk because of all the extra ingredients and fillers that are in it. If you use homemade that is just oats and water, then yes👍
