A way to make this insanely tight is instead of using a fist go ahead and go deeper until your arm is at a 90 degree angle forearm and elbow on the floor it’s ridiculous how tight it is, actually learned it from Erik Paulson at a CSW seminar I accidentally choked my partner out this hold is literally a choke, neck crank and shoulder lock all in one lol

Watching old NWA World Championship Wrestling episodes and occasionally you will see Ronnie Garvin use this move on guys. I am pretty sure there is one match where Garvin holds the guys arms like that with his leg instead of his arm, which freed his arm up to tie the guy's legs up at the same time. Now that's brutal.

You would be correct sir 😉 Garvin is one of my favorites for reasons like this. I true tough guy.

I think I heard Steve Austin on a podcast talk about this move. Thank you for sharing you knowledge!

You can hook the top toe and pull back as you lean in that way he has no leverage to try to roll out of it or fight through it. That's the way Nelson Royal taught us and he learned from Stu. Just a variant.

Nelson Royal was a hell of a hooker.

J'aime les prises de soumissions depuis longtemps, mais tu viens de m'apprendre quelque chose aujourd'hui! :p

Such a simple looking hold, yet one of the most devious. Could you do a follow-up video about reversing or countering out of the move? PS - Bring back the beard!

Dammit man that means I gotta get put in it 😂

I remember somewhere that they had this really big dude and if you could get out of him giving you the sugar holder you would win like $400 or something like that but that was back in like the 30s

Another added pressure is bringing the head closer to the knee

This is absolutely a bad ass move! Couldn't you get into this move by way of a reverse half nelson from behind too? I could've sworn someone mentioned that awhile back regarding this move.

Thanks for the demonstration, always heard Jim Cornette talk about it.
@crummydryver Жыл бұрын
Jim Cornette talking about putting a sugar hold on one of the Fantastics during a match brought me here. Dude legit couldn't break the hold. Cornette is a hooker, lol.

Bob Roop did this to some dude one point after the guy ran his mouth about being a wrestler.

Haha yup I love the old stories.

At the armory in Tampa. Bobby had a good run in Florida in the 80s with Kevin Sullivan and that whole crew. Mark Lewin and Mike Graham were also legit tough guys.

He also did this challenge in the ICW (Angelo Poffo’s territory in Kentucky) One person legitimately did get out of Bob Roop’s sugar hold and that was William Harding, a local martial artist. Happened in 1981 in either Frankfort or Lexington, Kentucky at an ICW event. The story is well-known and both Harding and Roop have told their sides of the story over the years and have posed for pictures together at conventions. As tough as it was to break Roop’s hold, Harding had an even tougher time getting his $1,000 from Angelo Poffo after the event 😆 they didn’t call him The Miser for nothin’! Roop mentioned that Harding was deceptively strong and flexible which enabled him to get out of the hold.
