Sugarbeet Mafia - Trailer

With 11,000 planted acres of sugar beets, harvest on Gudajtes Family Farms of Minto, North Dakota is no small task. It takes long hours, good help, and nearly 100 vehicles to complete a task at this scale. SUGARBEET MAFIA follows the owners and crew throughout a week of harvest and will reveal what it takes to make an operation of this scale work.

We warehoused for US Sugar in Lakeland Florida. I knew of cane sugar in Florida but didn’t have a clue about sugar beets until one of the executive’s from there was having lunch with us and I asked why is your headquarters in North Dakota! That’s when I found out most of the sugar in the US comes from sugar beets out of North Dakota.

L'autopropulsé n'est pas aussi courant ici aux États-Unis. Je suppose en raison du coût, de la simplicité et de la polyvalence de posséder des tracteurs traditionnels au lieu d'automoteurs. Self propelled isn't as common here in the USA. I'm guessing due to cost, simplicity, and versatility of owning traditional tractors instead of self propelled. Any other beet harvesters able to weigh in here?

Western sugar would have to start paying for beets for farmers to afford something here. From my understanding there are tariffs to promote European food production and security. Props crop income up.
