Hi Liz, How do you think either your brown butter cake or white cake or rose cake paired w/layers of your death by chocolate cake, w/your mock swiss meringue vanilla buttercream would taste together? I’m making a 30 serving layered cake on Aug. 18 for my Mom’s big 65th bday party. I’ve been on a baking hiatus for a few years now and I am a bit out of practice in pairing custom flavors. Hope this makes sense.

Hey Sugar Geek! I truly enjoy all your videos. However, I’ve tried to make your moist vanilla cake & the white velvet cake, and each time, my cakes turned out too dense & looked underbaked! I feel sad, because I followed your recipes to the T. The mixing of batter for 2 full mins, segregating oil & eggs step, & all. Still my cakes turned out bad, although they tasted perfect! I’m gonna have to try your recipes using regular creaming method next time, maybe I’m just not cut out for reverse creaming. 😥
@SugarGeekShow4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that the recipes didn't turn out. Don't give up! There are a few common mistakes that people make like converting the recipe to cups instead of measuring by weight, not bringing their eggs, milk and butter fully to room temperature, not baking their cakes for long enough or using a hand mixer instead of a stand mixer. Did you happen to do any of those things?
@mannequin124 жыл бұрын
@@SugarGeekShow Hi! OMG I didn’t expect you’d reply my comment. I did everything, from using kitchen scale to measure in grams (I’m from Malaysia, so we use weight measurement instead of cups), using room temp ingredients as well as exact mixing direction. Still I failed! So sad I had to throw the batches away even though they tasted perfect & delicious. I’m gonna try regular creaming method soon instead, see if it works

Wouldn't you know it. I was at the store yesterday and saw 6in pans. I picked them up, looked/picked up a few other things and then talked myself out of buying those pans! Ugh!! I know you said we could put the batter into 8in pans BUT... I only have 9in rounds, lol. I've never made brown butter. Man does that sound so good. What brand of vanilla bean paste did you use? I always thought it was the same as using a pod but the brand I've used doesn't seem to be that strong. 🤔 Seems like my extract is stronger. Odd...
@SugarGeekShow5 жыл бұрын
You can definitely use 9" pans but you may want to make extra batter. I would do a 1 1/2 batch by adjusting the servings on the recipe card on the blog. It will automatically update the ingredient amounts for you. I use neilsen and massey vanilla bean paste but I'm going to be making my own soon!
@tammiemartinez64855 жыл бұрын
